Progress 👩🌾 … The plums are starting to turn purple. I'm trying not to make eye contact with the local magpies 🙄 …
One day of freedom before my final day of training in Derby tomorrow. I'm all for upskilling, continuous professional development and lifelong learning... But I've come to the conclusion that my true vocation is being into resting.
At this point I'm convinced every road, path and questionable life choice leads to Derby. Corporate Induction Day 1 done. Just a couple more days of training and I'll finally be released back into the wild.
Daughter: How's our sanity doing? Me: His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy… There's vomit on his sweater already: Mom's spaghetti Pretty much our entire playthrough of Amnesia: The Dark Descent.
Last night: takeaway and girly gaming night, screaming our way through Amnesia: The Dark Descent. This game is terrifying 😱 Daughter: Did you see that? Me: No. I had my hands over my eyes. Also... Me: I don't like those Mexican hissing cockroaches. Daughter: Or even those Madagascan ones.
My daughter is coming home for the weekend, and on Monday I begin a new chapter. New job title, same role, just a different NHS Trust - supporting mental health, learning disabilities, substance misuse, and children's services 💙
Nothing like waking up to my daughter spamming me with more photos... We're both just taking a moment to appreciate the unreal beauty of Frank Iero. (Not her photos - she's just sharing the love) ❤️
Nectar from the Gods. (Liverpool rock, brought home by my second-born) ❤️
Me: Where's Frank? Daughter: sends me pictures of Frank Me: Is he still smol? Daughter: He was on the big screen. I may have a bit of a thing for Frank Iero... He really is a pocket-sized smol bean ❤️
My daughter just sent me this... I'm crying! ❤️ I know how much this means to them.
My daughter sent me this view from her hotel in Liverpool, with the Belfast ferry setting off. Tomorrow she, her brother and their partners are off to see My Chemical Romance on the Long Live: The Black Parade Tour at Anfield Stadium. Another bucket-list dream ticked off for them ❤️
This story about a jackdaw brought back a memory: www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... I rescued a jackdaw in 2015, hand-reared him, and eventually released him back into the wild. I called him Colin McCrow (IYKYK) He was so derpy.
Another egg-citing grocery delivery 🛍️ The eggs continue their campaign of chaos 🥚 I suspect this week's culprit may be me 🕵️♀️ It's very hot 🔥 I was slightly too confident with gravity 🙄 And the eggs noticed 👀
Found an old, battered penny while digging in the garden 👩🌾 Not sure how to clean it yet, but it looks like a 1966 one penny My BFF immediately: "England won the World Cup in '66 🏆 …"
And there is, of course, a rather exquisite smörgåsbord of the rude to choose from ...
'Remembering summer 1976: how the historic heatwave has become our new normal' ... www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026... People: But what about the heatwave in 1976? Me:
Spotted a handful of cherries on my tree 👩🌾 … No idea where the rest could have gone 🙄 …
When my boys were little, they shared a bedroom. The running joke is that my second-born is still haunted by this film after his younger brother insisted it was part of his falling-asleep routine. Every. Single. Night. For about 2 years. He's never really forgiven him for it.
For some kids, social media is a lifeline - the isolated, the marginalised, the ones who found friendship, community or support online when they couldn't find it elsewhere. A sad reality: kids lose access because too many adults can't behave responsibly, decently or safely around them.
