Oh shit. I've been hacked by a wizard / former priest / Societas Eruditorum member.
Finally, here's nine of the classic cuboctahedron jitterbugs glued together in a star. I was hunting for a ring configuration, but ended up proving no such exists.
Now a quick fun one — also possibly new —, a jitterbug on the square antiprism. (You can also build one on the hexagonal antiprism, but I won't bore you with that gif.)
But then a surprise! You can build a complementary mechanism on the same underlying polytope. I don't know if this has been built before. Have you seen it?
Next up, the classic rhombicosidodecahedron. Unlike some other visualizations, I'm allowing the configurations to immerse (self-intersect) in order to achieve a periodic path of configurations.
A thread of jitterbug mechanisms, some old, some new. Here's a new one build from the elongated pentagonal orthobirotunda. 🧮 #MathArt

I’m really enamored with Richard Schwartz’s result that an embedded origami flat torus must have at least 8 vertices, but… can anyone explain how to see his “pup tents” as tori? arxiv.org/abs/2507.14998 🧮
Through Cunningham solidly in 3rd. Just a 1min aid station stop. With pacer Jeff Browning now for the final 9 miles.
3rd overall out of Sherman. Now awaiting David’s arrival at Cunningham, where Jeff Browning will pick him up as pacer. Jimmy Elam is about 3 miles ahead.
David is 4th man, 5th overall to Grouse, 15min behind Courtney and hunting a podium spot.
David Ayala came through Telluride (27.8mi) in 7th place, a few minutes behind a group of three — DBo, Schlarb, & Ryan Smith. Cool and collected and following the game plan.
Unfortunately David’s bib is covering the photo of raccoons on his shirt with text DEATH IS COMING EAT TRASH BE FREE
Supplies procured. Now prepared to do completely reasonable things to my body for 24 hours straight.
(a) this might be my favorite photo of me, and (b) this might be my favorite paragraph I've written
Whomst would see a delicate aubergine-hued wildflower like this and name it 𝑃𝑒𝑛𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑚𝑜𝑛 𝑤ℎ𝑖𝑝𝑝𝑙𝑒𝑎𝑛𝑢𝑠?
San Juan Mountains at golden hour — basically cheat mode for photography.
Wait — you wrote your website in the Julia programming language?? (It looks great!)
