the most succinct take yet. roberts is ‘ostriching.’ clearly ’wants’ the partisan-ness & wrong-headedness of this version of the #SCOTUS to be alright with u.s. doesn’t seem to understand the vast(!) majority of the country is vehemently opposed & *will* see to it that bad decisions are rescinded.
you sure?? i mean, i agree that his deep shallowness is a shameful thing, but … this was just after their ‘meeting’ in helsinki, when everything changed. the ‘american’ ‘leader’ looks harangued, shook, & thoroughly beaten into submission.
the chief ‘justice’ has had the red-azz over voting rights for minorities for way longer than he has been an associate justice. he got pissy about it & hardened his ‘opinion’ when he *lost* a related case before the #SCOTUS in the early 1980’s. from the @brennancenter.org :
this is true, & also very much *not* unpatriotic. this regime cannot be trusted or believed; & that seems to be the whole point. if we stop trusting, believing in government, it’s ok to not have one. very, very troubling though …
