Detroit, MI - Shawn Fain issues the following statement.

"I’ve remained silent on the political infighting in our union over the past two years because it
only distracts from our mission as a union and as a movement. But the stakes are too high, and
the membership deserves to know the truth.

Let’s be clear about what’s going on here: Rich Boyer has fed the monitor false allegations
about me and is now trying to weaponize these bogus allegations to steal the upcoming UAW
election. He knows he can’t win a fair fight because he has no real platform to run on.

I’m done being silent. Neil Barofsky has a political grudge against me because the UAW took an
anti-war stance about what was happening in Gaza.

I’ve retained a law firm to fight against the Monitor’s trumped-up claims against me. What the
Monitor is doing is wrong, it’s unfair to the UAW and to you as members, and my lawyers are
looking at any and all legal options I can pursue to make it stop.

We are going to fight back hard.

The truth when it comes to Boyer is that I didn’t want him running the Stellantis Department
because he wasn’t doing a good job for our members. I wouldn’t let him hire family members
into UAW positions, and I wouldn’t stand by while he bargained concessions with Stellantis and
failed to enforce our contract. Boyer is bad for our union and I’m not going to let him use the
Monitor’s bogus investigation so he can try to fail upwards into a bigger title.

I’ve stayed quiet about this because I don’t believe it helps our union to have these fights out in
public. But make no mistake: our contracts, our jobs, and our union are at stake here. Our
members are either going to see through these lies and the nonsense, or let Boyer and
Barofsky destroy our union and weaken us at the bargaining table.

We’ve accomplished more in the past 3 years and 3 months than in the previous decades. This

“We believe the women who have come forward about Graham Platner, and we stand with the survivors who have shared their experiences at real personal cost. These are serious claims from multiple women, and they raise real questions about Graham Platner's fitness for office. Having lost the trust of the people of Maine, Platner should withdraw from this Senate race.

The USDA’s Food and Nutrition Administration works to nourish those in need through financially sound programs that promote health and work, as well as champion the productivity of American agriculture. Consistent with Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins’ guiding principle to take swift action to minimize instances of fraud, waste, and program abuse in nutrition programs, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Fraud Framework Implementation Grant Program supports State agency efforts to improve and expand recipient fraud prevention, detection, and investigation efforts using the procedures, ideas, and practices outlined in the SNAP Fraud Framework. The SNAP Fraud Framework is designed to support State agencies as they develop new efforts or improve existing ones to prevent, detect, and investigate recipient fraud.

On Sept. 18, 2024, FNS awarded approximately $4.9 million in SNAP Fraud Framework grants to support state’s efforts to improve and expand recipient fraud prevention, detection, and investigation efforts using the procedures, ideas and practices outlined in the SNAP Fraud Framework.

NLRB Denies Amazon Whole Foods Request to Overturn Historic Philadelphia Union Election

Philadelphia, PA — The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has denied Amazon Whole Foods’ request for review of the Regional Director’s decision certifying the January 27, 2025 union election at the company’s Center City Philadelphia store.

In May 2026, the NLRB Regional Director certified the results of the historic union election. Amazon Whole Foods subsequently filed a request for review with the Board in an effort to overturn the certification decision. Today, the NLRB denied the company’s request for review, allowing the certification to stand.

The Board’s refusal to review the Regional Director’s decision confirms what workers and UFCW Local 1776 have known from the beginning: the election was free, fair, and conducted lawfully.

“From the start, Whole Foods told their workers and the public that they would respect the outcome of the vote,” said Wendell Young IV, UFCW 1776 President. “Instead, the company has spent months delaying the process and retaliating against known union supporters. With this ruling, there could not be a clearer obligation to bargain. Enough is enough. It is time for Amazon Whole Foods to do the right thing, respect the workers’ decision, and come to the bargaining table.”

In April, the Arizona Department of Economic Security reported that just over 235,000 families received SNAP benefits. That marks a steep drop from last July, when over 455,000 families received the benefits — a decline of nearly 50%.

India Gibson, a single mom, says she has gone months without SNAP benefits despite submitting applications, calling the DES office and waiting.

“I have sent in numerous amounts of paperwork since August,” Gibson said. “I want to say my confidence is pretty low, you know? And it gets lower every day, you get discouraged that you called this line and you don’t know what to do.”

Pebble Beach – More than 250 caddies at Pebble Beach Golf Links, the most famous golf course in the country, are organizing a union. It is a first for caddies in the modern era.

Caddies across Pebble Beach Company’s golf courses – Pebble Beach Golf Links, Spyglass Hill Golf Course, The Links at Spanish Bay, and Del Monte Golf Course – are fighting to maintain their autonomy and protect their livelihoods. They are demanding respect as professionals who shape the golfer experience at some of the most celebrated, and most expensive, public golf courses in the world.

“When golfers come to Pebble Beach, we are the face of the resort. Whether I’m with a tech billionaire or a teacher from Iowa who saved up for years for the experience of playing here, my job is building relationships and facilitating memories. You can’t corporatize that,” said Jack Hoenes, a CaddieMasters caddie who has been at Pebble Beach for 24 years. “These changes to our jobs are happening because of greed at the top and a gross underestimation of the value of caddies. We organized to protect our careers.”

Caddies say they are part of more than a century of tradition at Pebble Beach – one they felt changed overnight when CaddieMaster became their employer on May 1. For decades, caddies had elected a board to directly discuss the terms of their pay and schedule; that structure was eliminated under CaddieMaster. Caddies were moved to hourly pay, starting as low as minimum wage, and additional hours were added onto the workday. Meanwhile, costs for golfers at Pebble Beach have increased to a $695 green fee, $175 and $250 for single bag and double bag caddie fees, respectively.

Trump's massive union busting attempt toward federal workers faces another loss in court Department of Veteran Affairs lost their appeal today to rescind the collective bargaining agreement for VA workers as a lawsuit proceeds against the VA's attempt to terminate the union contract

Today, the American Federation of Government Employees National Veterans Affairs Council (AFGE/NVAC), the largest union representing more than 320,000 employees at the Department of Veterans Affairs, celebrates the unanimous decision of the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit to uphold the reinstatement of the largest collective bargaining agreement of VA employees.

The VA filed a motion for an emergency stay with the First Circuit following a March 13 preliminary injunction that ordered the VA to reinstate AFGE/NVAC’s master collective bargaining agreement pending resolution of a lawsuit filed by AFGE/NVAC challenging its retaliatory termination by VA Secretary Doug Collins on August 6, 2025. The VA argued that it was likely to prevail on the merits of AFGE/NVAC’s constitutional and statutory claims, and further, that it would suffer “irreparable harm” by having to comply with the union contract while its appeal was adjudicated by the First Circuit.
