Just got to find our colander…..rest of kit working ok. Just need the clouds to thin out a bit more 🤞
Fascinating cloudage seen from Lake Windermere this evening. #clouds #lakedistrict
Ah crap. Such sad news about Glen Hansard. Farewell Sir, and thank you. “Falling Slowly” is exactly what Fiona & I did - and ‘Once’ is part of our story; our romance; our love. We won’t ever forget you. 💔♥️💔♥️
How wonderful. Well done. Former (mostly reformed…,but only mostly) ex-feral Coral cat sends greetings to you and to Treacle.
Fiona’s office view tonight. Side Pike from The New Dungeon Ghyll. 💚
Hey @bethrigby.bsky.social you keep saying that Prime Ministers normally take office after General Elections. I’ve been a voter since 1980. I know what you say is utterly untrue. 👇🏼 Since this chart we’ve also had Truss & Sunak as ‘non GE’ Prime Ministers. Do better. fullfact.org/news/unelect...
Solitary fisherman. Devoke Water in Cumbria. 15 June 2026 (I resisted the temptation to shout ‘stop winding!’ @bobmort.bsky.social 😉🙂) #LakeDistrict #Cumbria #DevokeWater
Solstice Eve photos from home. Sunset afterglow above the Lake District fells, Venus shining in the 2nd one. The setting Moon. A starlight sky after Midnight, with hints of the Milky Way through wispy high cloud still lit by the Sun. #nightsky #solsticeeve #cumbria
Coral cat does love the garden that Fiona has made here; as do I. 😻😍
And we’re off. First Windermere Lake Cruises @windermereboats.bsky.social evening buffet cruise of 2026 with Fiona Music In The Lakes @fionamusiclakes.bsky.social 🙂⛴️🌅🎶
Lots of Painted Lady butterflies in the garden this week. May well be a release of hatched specimens from the primary school just down the road 💚
Lovely evening - looking toward home from the car park of The Pheasant Inn at Casterton.,
Spending time quietly in our garden, watching the birds. Trying to improve my ability to photograph them through leaves & blossom, now Spring is fully here. Brings me peace and calm. #gardenbirds #bluetit
Raining here in Westmorland but plenty of song at 5:40am. Sparrows, blackbirds, chiffchaff, dove, pigeon, & wren most obvious but song-thrush, blackcap, chaffinch, & blue tit too.
Loving the view of #redscrees from our front window tonight, with mini clouds above. ☁️
Leaves & blossom showing nicely as Spring arrives here on the hill. 💚🪷🪻🌺
A lovely walk yesterday up High Rigg to mark what would have been my dear friend Jamie Normington's 54th birthday. 1st Wainwright of 2026. Snow on Helvellyn range. Toasted his 'wild & precious life' at the top. He sent us a dipper to watch in St John's Beck as we walked back to the car.
Last night I drove Mrs S & two of her friends to Blackpool - so they could see a musical at the Opera House. I had a chippy tea whilst sat on the promenade at Anchorsholme. Took some Sun-set views. It was hard to tell where the sea ended and the sky began. 1st two are Canon DSLR lastvonevis iPhone.
I am fortunate to have a lovely garden in a semi-rural location, and the time to sit in it to watch nature. It calms me. Connects me. Eases my mind. I know what a great privilege it is to be so lucky. 4 of our bird visitors this morning. #gardenbirds
I’ll have to read/watch it again now. Source of one of my favourite literary quotes: “There was nothing dishonourable in not being blown about by every little modern wind. Better to have worth, to entrench, to be an oak of one's own generation.” Made a ‘fan visit’ to Smiley’s home a few years ago.
11 years ago my nephew & I ran a ‘dunking resilience test’ on various biscuits - via a FB exchange. He from his canal longboat in Cheshire, me from Stratford on Avon. This 👇🏼 was the remnant of a dual test; bourbon vs malted milk. As captured by my beloved late wife Michele 😬 I think hobnobs won.🤔
St Patrick’s Day greetings to all. The Sun has returned to the hill in celebration
If you have ANY financial products with Prudential UK or M&G Plc then I urge you to move them. Prudential continue to be utterly useless in dealing with payment of a whole life policy written 'in trust'. My CEO complaint has been upheld but STILL they throw more barriers up to payment. #prudential
Pouring down here in South Lakeland. So warming myself with memories of St Lucia last month. #BirdOfTheDay #WideOpenWings
The largest windjammer in the world, ‘Royal Clipper’, seen sailing in the distance from the deck of ‘Chronos’ - the ship on which we sailed from St Lucia to Grenada. 📷 taken whilst moored off Canouan, Caribbean. #Canouan #Chronos #RoyalClipper #Caribbean #JanuaryTravels
