Oregon, I am in you! Spreading this salient message while driving down the coast to meet my 20 mostly Midwestern relatives. To whom I will NOT correct their pronunciation of Oregon, I will NOT correct their pronunciation of Oregon, I will NOT…
Cassis is a perfect coastal town, and has a perfect beach. Eat lunch at Chez Gilbert on the water, get the Turbot, and drink Cassis Blanc. Nirvana.
My town hosts a watercolor contest every year where artists paint depictions of local shops and buildings. This cool lady did my wine shop – – guess I’m gonna have to buy some art.
Just a top notch week. 2 nights Phish Madison; friends in town, floating in Poolette; Richard Kind>Buddy Guy>Fred Armison>David Letterman>John Mulaney at Wrigley last night; this morning’s news; and a full day of nothin’ to do but float and listen to Jerry, nary a cloud in the sky. 10/10, no notes.
Annie's Goddess dressing discontinued. End of an era at Chez Nous. Blergh.
The Douro Valley also super doesn’t suck, nor does vineyard dog Estrella.
Seafood is pretty, pretty good when you’re 20 feet from the sea, too
Domaine Campuget in Costieres de Nimes. Incredible family style meal for my 25 customers, plus this guy, Albert:
On a wine tour of France, Portugal and Spain. Here are the top two vineyard dogs this far: Suzette and Bello, Gigondas and Chateauneuf du Pape, respectively.
I feel slightly less shitty posting about my kid here since most of you don't know him IRL. He came back from college year 1 with a Chalomet stache and...interesting fashion. Lots of thrifting, where he picked up these. This morning I caught the dog eating one of them AND PEOPLE I DID NOTHING
In the Midwest, there is exactly one week out of the year that you can both lounge lazily outside at night without a coat or a blanket, and not get eaten alive by mosquitoes. This is that week.
I’m just a girl, once again, standing in front of her closet, wondering which four summery items she can compile atop one another because it’s friggin’ FORTY degrees in late May.
Got all the flowers in the ground. Please clap—for it will never look this good again.
My kid gets great grades. I have no idea how when all his assignments come home looking like this. Kid’s allergic to folders.
My dog ate my favorite glasses but she looks like this, so hard to be mad.
First dip of the season. Lilac tree providing top notch aromatherapy.
