The Smithsonian’s Folklife Festival in the National Mall has been a July tradition since 1967, when I was 2 years old. The 1976 Bicentennial American Folklife Festival was extended into a 12-week event. This year’s festival was going to be epic. The Trump Admin refused them permits.
