I occasionally take pictures, sometimes of cats or moss, and I spend a lot of time professionally thinking about what things mean.
An assortment of Grandma Moses cows from the Bennington Museum. #cowsatthemuseum
Dinner (partially) from the garden — pasta with marinated tomatoes (half supermarket, half first cherry tomatoes), roasted little baby eggplant, three kinds of basil, and burrata.
Stir fried chicken and eggplant. The eggplant is the first from the garden - a mix of kinds. Snow peas added because I like them. From a Woks of Life recipe, slightly modified.
They are ideal, particularly to the neighborhood groundhogs. Or I assume it was the groundhogs. It could’ve been bunnies.
Beef and broccoli for dinner. First time using the fancy oyster sauce. Definitely an improvement.
I had to look him up and was “oh yeah, Indiana roundabout guy” and then read this on his Wikipedia page. It’s the Christkindlmarkt that really did it.
Leftover 4th of July - grilled chicken with a barbecue rib, dill & egg potato salad, and a Caesar salad (made fresh, not leftovers).
If you’re looking for a summery dessert, this chocolate loaf cake with a scoop of ice cream is like a grown-up ice cream sandwich. www.kingarthurbaking.com/recipes/choc...
Forgot to take a picture because I was too excited to eat it. Trout amandine with roasted broccoli, both recipes from ATK. And no, I didn’t eat the skin. I don’t like it.
Um, is that proper lab protocol for this kind of pathogen testing? Seems like minimal PPE and sample contamination avoidance? But idk, haven’t been in a lab of any kind since college.
This is wit withe either just a lie or dangerous ignorance. Even back in the 80s, those Very Bad I knew farms were banned from shipping milk for cheese production because their pathogen counts were too high. Because it’s dangerous!
This is a cat check point. Relinquish your most recent cat picture on your phone.
I was born in 1972, and my great-grandmother survived the Peshtigo Fire as a 15-month-old. Her husband’s father (my g-g-grandfather) was a Civil War vet. On the other side, my grandmother was born in 1886. Her father was born in 1837. It is shocking how close history can be.
It’s big salad season. Extra cheese because there was just a little left. Leftover teriyaki chicken from a couple of days ago.
Very bad pictures of our resident grey fox and her kit, taken from my office window.
Protip: if you see someone making a dumb comment in a thread, don’t respond, just mute them. It never fails that when I see the below and click it, I just think, “yup, correct move”.
Not very good pictures of good things around the yard today. Bleeding heart, the first Columbine blossom, a ganoderma mushroom, iris.
Eggplant and pork in garlic sauce for dinner. Thanks to Past Us for roasting eggplant and freezing it - came together very quick.
I have not been keeping up with food recalls, there are a lot out there! This led me to discover this horror that rfkjr probably loves. Anyway, lots of stuff with milk powder in them!
