Despite my Opa's recent speech about how my work isn't good enough and I'm going to die alone, I love my job. Taking care of pets is great, and also a way of taking care of people. I love doing it!! I also love working <40hrs a week and having time for my garden and other hobbies.

Garden update: I put legs on my tree cookie and got a base for my umbrella...last week I planted the new currant bush & lowbush blueberry. In the back there is the new 1/2 size hugelmound in progress Irrigation is installed, I just need to tweak the layout a bit before I hook it up to the timer
I've got the place to myself thanks to my sister, time to get stoned and putter around my garden

Didn't have turtle midwifery on my agenda for the day but, here we are! Thankfully my parents were willing to spell me off waiting for her to finish so she doesn't wander into the road in her postpartum daze. Reported the nest to the local group, ideally someone will be by to collect da eggies

Today's mushroom club foray was very rainy/buggy, but we persevered! 🍄📸 We've been finding these guys every spring on well rotted logs. Finally have a better name for them (Clitocybe americana) but I'm not entirely satisfied. These have a cucumber odour &are found consistently at yellow morel time
Like I know horn corals can theoretically get large but I've never seen ones this enormous (and intact) I (33 years old) had to be yelled at by my dad to wrench myself away from the parking lot treasure
Oh my god these limestone landscaping rocks are full of silicified coral fossils and crinoids!!!!! I want to stay at this rest stop forever!!!!!
Got a glimpse of Zug Island today! Black Oak Park was truly amazing, I'm sad i had so little time to explore The birding was top tier, got (mid) pics of a tanager and a Great Crested Flycatcher, heard Indigo Bunting, Tennessee Warbler, Wood Thrush, Blue Grey Gnatcatcher, Magnolia Warbler...
