Doing some small portfolio updates and remembering that I used to draw comics too. Love my buff ladies (and nonbinary pirate!) and thick locs, they're so much fun to draw. A few favorite panels from some very old comics.
Huge thanks to @toondoon1010.bsky.social for sharing tips and recipe advice, the updated version turned out amazing!!
As promised, I matched the donation amount of $56 to True North Aid for the Indigenous communities evacuated due to wildfires. You can join me in donating directly: truenorthaid.ca
The Traitor & The Wretch is a grim fantasy with a surprisingly tender romance between two disaster henchmen trying their best to outrun their terrible fates. Written by me Illustrated by @skulkingfoxes.bsky.social Cover art by @fusspot.rip Buy it here: bonedustpress.com/shop
the cover ➡️ the first page Cover art by @artwins.bsky.social and page illustrations by @soengery.bsky.social 💀✨ What's a skeleton to do when they outlive the terrible wizard that forced them into existence? This Mortal Coil is out July 31st! Preorder here: www.bonedustpress.com/shop
Good news, the sauce turned out okay after all! No one else complained (we had a Belgian Independence Day party, and everyone dressed up as iconic landmarks, it was really fun) and my sibling made a little frites stand! That was a big hit.
And last, but certainly not least, Percy and Knell from Traitor & The Wretch both have disabilities. Percy is a recent amputee with PTSD and Knell has, uhh, a whole lot going on and it's spoiler-y but includes: extensive scarring, anxiety, and PTSD as well. Amazing art by @skulkingfoxes.bsky.social
The Last Session Vol. 2 has Erika, who uses a cane after an accident in her childhood (the cause isn't explained on page, but it is part of her life) and it's even reflected in her in-game character design where her character has a magical prosthetic leg.
in The Last Session vol. 1, Jay (who runs the tabletop game) is diabetic and wears a blood glucose monitor. It's not something that is explicitly stated, but it was suggested by the editor when I told them I wanted a masc-leaning nonbinary character who was both fat and active, and I loved the idea.
BROOMS also had Loretta, Billie Mae's best friend and the defensive position of the Night Storms. She had a stroke at a young age and uses both mobility aids (a leg brace) and accessibility parts on her racing broom. She was inspired by my grandmother, who also had a stroke at a young age.
BROOMS also had Emma, one of the newer members of the Night Storms (an illegal broom racing team) who is deaf and uses sign language. Without access to period accurate Choctaw Sign Language, I used "Indian Sign Language" by W. Tomkins and we had Mississippi Band of Choctaw language experts review it
BROOMS was my first published graphic novel, (with art by Teo DuVall, colors by @lgions.bsky.social and lettering by @airy.bsky.social) and one I'm so proud of! Lots of characters with disabilities in this and first up is Billie Mae, the irrepressible team leader with chronic joint pain (like me!)
Happy #LateNightWrites!! Tonight I'll be chatting about #ThisMortalCoil a book about a skeleton that outlives their evil wizard and has to figure out what to do with themself in the aftermath. Their new travel buddy, Kingslayer, has a couple suggestions.
Ooh, I'll have to try this, I love the caramel flavor coming from bits of brown sugar! Here's my base recipe for an everyday classic shortbread (with optional rosemary), you can add whatever flavors you like and endlessly customize it.

Some extras that I remembered after posting (I'm sure there are more, I read a lot but also have a heck of a time remembering things.)
Some of my favorite books this year in no particular order. I love me some historical queers, murder mysteries, and fantasy. Hoping to read more scifi, comics, and non-European queer stories too. If anyone has recommendations that match the vibes, please share! (Title/author info in the alt text.)
QRP to reintroduce yourself: Hello! I'm a writer and editor of comics and novels. Usually genre fiction and always featuring queer characters. I'm aro/ace, I deal with chronic pain, I hate AI, and I love human craftsmanship. I'm also the founder of @bonedustpress.bsky.social
I like to ask this at the end of each year, because I do have some folks who are new followers, and some who have been around from the early days. Want to hear more about my older books? Excited for the little bits of lore I share? Writing/editing tidbits? Original art? Baking/chocolate posts?
