Wikipedia claims J Paul Getty was worth $1.2 billion in 1966. Several early computer pioneers (Moore from Intel, Hewlett & Packard) died with net worths that I think imply they were billionaires in the 1980s? But this is also an artifact of the fairly flat stock market in the 1960s & 1970s
PSA; since Spotify is a "podcast" app and "podcasts" are just videos, a bunch of Youtubers list their stuff there. But you can turn off your teen's access to this stuff while still giving them access to non-Kids Spotify.
Well well well, not so easy to find a defensive formation that doesn't suck shit, huh?
Right, and this has been cut in half from "half the college bound kids" in 2012 to "a quarter of the college bound kids" and I don't think that time is being replaced by STEM activities in most cases.
The best selling EV models happen to be the affordable ones, maybe there's a lesson here...
Like imagine a world where a few of the non-centers on this list become either centerbacks or center forwards. (Haaland is 6'5 which makes him a guard or short 3)
This is the better "Norway is doing something right with sports" argument
The 2010s featured unusually low food inflation, and the weak economy kept a lid on gas prices. I guess there's a lot of anchoring here (plus nominal prices etc etc)
Have we reached the CFB coaching carousel point of this story, @janecoaston.bsky.social @sickoscommittee.org ?
There plenty of people who would get some value out of "how do I know this person and what is their name". Like there are privacy implications but also benefits.
This sounds like a possible "4 things are true" 1. This team is the best we've had in a while 2. Still room to improve it 3. Group stage and B&H games were overperformances (we were modestly favored, then dominated) 4. Belgium was an underperformance (we were modest underdogs, then got dominated)
This is pretty normal. The average number of QF appearances outside of Europe + South America is below 1 per tournament. It's actually just the UEFA tournament that they invite Brazil & Argentina to.
Higher ed now explicitly advertises certain degrees to full paying international students as a way to get multi-year with authorization. If you think this is good, get Congress to pass a law rather than rely on the good graces of the executive! www.facultyleaks.com/p/your-journ...
I've been getting a lot of soccer fun facts on Instagram, and apparently Ronaldo (the REAL Ronaldo) did that stupid haircut to get the press to stop talking about his groin injury. Just throwing that out there for no reason.
The Expecting Goals projection from @michaelcaley.bsky.social had this at pure 50-50, which factors in the host county advantage. England is the superior team!
The teams are not separately owned, so an individual owner trying too hard to win is less likely.
The supreme court is at its least active since some point in the 19th century. Some of this reflects less change in legal doctrine than the new deal or civil rights era. But also everyone is getting lazy. They have more clerks now!
