I'd swear I've seen versions of him in stone, guarding Chinese temples or something. But bigger. You see the resemblance, right?

90+ pounds of dog. Who always wants to sit on my lap. And then fart. Living the dream.

A large tri-color dog, something like a pitt mix, sitting awkwardly (for me, not him) on the lap of a person reclining on a couch. There's a brown and green blanket covering most of the person, and they've put a 🙄 sticker over their face for privacy. There's a little table and lamp in the background, and a book. Today's update.

A photo taken while sitting on the floor in one of the cat areas at the animal shelter, looking down at the floor, where there are at least 4 tabby kittens playing in or around my crossed legs. There is a pink towel covering my lap. Various cat beds and litter boxes are also in the background.

Anyhow, I'm off to volunteer at the animal shelter, where I shall bury myself in kittens for a couple of hours and forget the world exists. Here's a pic from the other week.

I just finished this, my first read from this author, and they are apparently... not on bsky?? Someone fix this. Judging by their writing, I assume they are delightful and need to be on here. (I know nothing more than I just finished this book and immediately regretted not having more on hand.

A book, "the long way to a small angry planet" by Becky Chambers. The cover image is mostly a night sky that's gradually brightened by a nebula or galaxy or milky way type thing toward the bottom, where there is the silhouette of a person standing on the peak of a hill. The silhouetted person and hill stand out against the brightness at the horizon.

Took this photo the other day and I keep going back to it. Like a little angry dino baby in amazing Vegas showgirl drag, about to belt out some RATM or something. So pretty but so angry looking. Thing is living the life of Riley, not sure what it has to be mad about.

Hello, back there. Would you happen to have any cheese?

Found some of this in a drawer when I was having a mystery attack of something (yard work, fml) and it's the shit. Also, apparently, discontinued. (I immediately tried to find more for the future, it was so good.) WHY? This stuff is amazing. I was going nuts itching and then, boom, relief.

A small tube of Band-Aid Anti-Itch Gel. Label says "Immediate cooling relief for insect bites and poison ivy/sumac" and it does not lie.

#BreadMachine people... the last 2 loaves I've done came out short. Haven't cut the new one yet, but the 1st was fine except one weird layer on the top crust that was like the line where it went wrong and should have been taller. Is my yeast bad? Though the cup is opaque, you can see the levels in different shades where the cup has stuff in it, because I shot this against the light coming in. This is after 10 minutes doing a yeast test.(yeast mixed with warm water and sugar and left for 10 min.) The bottom shade is watery. The middle strip is, I guess, the active foam bit. The top shade is where the cup is empty. Does that amount of foam mean the yeast is not good anymore or is that normal? This is from a little jar of yeast that is really not that old. Certainly less than 6 months? Been keeping it in a cabinet, but this is Florida, so maybe it should have been in the fridge? I dunno. Not sure what else I'm doing wrong. Previous couple of loaves with the same recipe were fine, except the last 2.

Got to spend some quality time with Florida nature this weekend. Up in the Big Bend region. Good exercise swimming against the current for a bit. Hope I get to go back again this summer.

Good morning from my couch, where we are waiting on a service person, and where my 90-lb dog still prefers my lap to the entire rest of the couch. Ow.

There is a purple spot on his tongue due to his indiscrimate and profligate ancestry. Tonight's read. Finished the trilogy. Good stuff. What I want to say about final feelings on it would be a huge spoiler, so I'll just say it gets 2 floppy ears up. (If the dog was awake enough to oblige.)

Ooh, I have this screenshot on my phone, from July 1, 2024, bestbuy website. Same item now $200 more. (Not double, but I noted it just yesterday.)

Dog's living the dream. Kid1 trips with a plate in her hand and literally throws a slice of pizza on the floor in front of him.(poof, gone) Later, emboldened, I guess, he pounces on the last slice, foolishly held at the wrong angle by kid2 while they argued whose it was. Surprise, it was the dog's!

I don't think I've ever snatched a nonfiction library book off the shelf faster than I grabbed this. I'm just getting started on it and I'm enthralled.
