Spent a beautiful Saturday for the South Cooking Lake Trail Days with the Strathcona-Sherwood Park NDP team! It was great to see so many families out enjoying the parade, car show, market, games and much more. Thanks to everyone who came out and made it such a fun community celebration.
Sherwood Park didn’t ask for this referendum. Alberta didn’t ask for this referendum. Danielle Smith did. October 19. Show up 🇨🇦 Vote YES for Canada and ❌ NO to the other nine. foralbertaforcanada.ca
Transmission fees do not pay for roads, hospitals, universities, and police, Mrs. Smith. $200m is transmission fees, $40m is property taxes. $10m in annual royalties and levies is all the Province of Alberta will net from the Meta data centre.
Nothing beats a summer night at the @edmfolkfest.bsky.social! Great to spend some time with my Alberta NDP colleagues, enjoying incredible music and celebrating one of the things that makes our province such a great place to live.
Heading into the August long weekend shouldn't mean stressing about the cost of filling your gas tank. A year ago, filling up a family vehicle might have cost around $90. Today, it's well over $130. Albertans deserve real relief.
Sad news. Day 2 of the Sherwood Park Highland Gathering is cancelled today. We are grateful that nobody was hurt, everyone is safe and our thoughts are with the amazing organizers as they pivot to clean up and planning for next year.
Alberta has everything it takes to lead in carbon removal and the jobs that come with it. It was great to connect with industry leaders at the Carbon Removal Roundup in Calgary. The conversations were full of optimism and a shared commitment to building an economy that's ready for the future.
The best part of Stampede is the chance to meet people from every corner of Alberta. It was great to join my Alberta NDP colleagues for our Stampede breakfast in Haysboro and connect with so many people who know that better is possible. Thanks for the great conversations!
Sherwood Park knows how to celebrate Canada Day! 🇨🇦 Great to spend the day at Strathcona County’s celebration with friends, neighbours, and families. Our Canada Day hat-making station was a hit. So many creative kids! Thanks to organizers, volunteers, and everyone who stopped by. 🍁
The Strathcona County Museum & Archives' Canadian Multiculturalism Day was filled with incredible energy, outstanding performances, and a wonderful celebration of the cultures that make our community so vibrant. Thank you to the organizers, performers, and everyone who came out on Saturday.
After years of rising costs and economic uncertainty under the UCP, Alberta’s NDP has a plan: ✅ Jobs-driven growth ✅ Responsible government ✅ Shared prosperity Our vision is an economy where Albertans can build a career, grow a business and plan for the future. albertandp.ca/news/economy
Proud to have joined our community for the Pride flag raising in Sherwood Park on Saturday. Thank you to the Strathcona County Diversity Committee for your leadership in creating spaces where 2SLGBTQAI+ people are welcome. Happy Pride month! 🌈
Danielle Smith is focused on separatism while Albertans are looking for leadership on the issues that matter most, like health care and affordability. Alberta and Canada are stronger together. Help us reach more voters in Sherwood Park and build a better future. Donate at albertandp.ca/donate/shpk
It was great to attend and speak at Strathcona County’s Seniors’ Week Celebration today. I enjoyed connecting with so many seniors, community leaders, and organizations who help make our community stronger and more connected. The photo booth was a lot of fun, too! Happy Seniors’ Week!
Join me at the Fort Saskatchewan-Vegreville Alberta NDP volunteer appreciation BBQ! Looking forward to connecting with volunteers and building momentum for better health care, affordability, and a stronger future for Alberta families. Hope to see you there!
Thank you to everyone who packed the room at our nomination event on Saturday and brought so much hope and energy. In uncertain times, action is the antidote to anxiety. That’s the movement we’re building in Sherwood Park: rooted in community, purpose, and the belief that our best days are ahead.
Friends of Medicare in Sherwood Park to have an urgent conversation about healthcare in Alberta. Focused on what matters!
As session wrapped last week, I was proud to serve as Shadow Minister of Affordability & Utilities, fighting for real relief for Albertans: cutting grocery, gas, insurance & power costs, helping first-time homebuyers, capping fees, banning predatory pricing, and strengthening consumer protections.
Sherwood Park, let’s build momentum for 2027 together! 🎉 Join me SATURDAY, May 23 at the Log Cabin as I’m nominated as your Alberta NDP candidate for Sherwood Park, with live music, community, and support for the Alberta NDP Women’s Caucus. Register: www.albertandp.ca/2026-shpk-no...
Albertans deserve answers after the largest data breach in our province’s history. I called on the UCP government to explain what happened, protect those affected, and take responsibility for the risks Albertans now face from fraud, identity theft, and exposed personal information.
ICYMI: For most people in Alberta, driving a car is not an option, it is essential. We can’t suspend all taxes, but suspending the vehicle fuel tax would be meaningful to everyone who drives. Suspending the fuel tax would be worth it, to make life a little more affordable in Alberta.
I’ve been hearing from a lot of folks here in Sherwood Park about data centres, especially concerns about water. The proposed Wonder Valley project would use 24 million cubic metres of water every year, and it’s moving ahead without a full environmental assessment.
This event truly showcases the very best of our community. A huge thank you to the incredible local businesses who show up year after year, and to the volunteers who make it all possible. Come on down this weekend, support local, and stop by my booth to say hello! 👋
Grateful to be part of something that brings so many people together. It was an honour to speak and help cut the ribbon to open the Sherwood Park & District Chamber of Commerce Great Canadian Trade Fair & Sale yesterday. With hundreds of local artisans and organizations all under one roof.
Stephen Lewis was an incredible Canadian. He was the embodiment of selfless public service that crossed partisan lines. As a global advocate to fight HIV and AIDS, and as Canada’s Ambassador to the United Nations, he always put people first. He will be missed but his legacy of service lives on. RIP
Good jobs. Lower costs. Better healthcare. It was an honour to meet with the Government of Manitoba’s Minister of Finance Adrien Sala along with MLA Julia Hayter and learn how they are delivering on the priorities of the good people of Friendly Manitoba.
On Team Canada, Forever! Had a fantastic meeting with Manitoba Minister of Business, Mining, Trade and Job Creation & @ndpjulia.bsky.social The Port of Churchill offers the shortest route from Alberta to European Markets for LNG and other Canadian products. Let’s keep working together, Canada
Beautiful day to jump in a lake! ❄️🥶☃️ Another bracing Polar Plunge with @janisirwin.bsky.social in support of Special Olympics Alberta.
African Society of Strathcona County put on a fantastic Black History Month event on Sunday. I got to join my first Drum Circle Workshop and learned a lot about the lived experience of African immigrants navigating adaptation in Canada. We are definitely better together!
