Lots of disquieting VW news lately, although heaven knows it’s a company which has weathered storms in its past. I surely can’t be alone in thinking that making a few more achingly desirable products such as this Mk1 Golf GTI Cabriolet, and maybe fewer bland SUVs, might be a route back to success.

Michael Barthly who works with Dacia and Ford did an RS-ified version of the 021C recently, digitally, and while I’m sure that wasn’t what was originally intended for it, it looked great. If Ford announced it as a reborn Escort with battery power tomorrow I reckon it would sell.

I’m watching the Benetton documentary on Sky this morning. Seeing Gary Anderson’s stunning Jordan 191 being flung around Spa Francorchamps is the perfect antidote to the dulling fuss and faux-pageantry of the Miami GP. Fabulous car, fabulous circuit, and in Michael Schumacher an amazing driver.
I mean, I can’t say I’m shocked that the gilet-wearing, tattooed fuckwit in the matte paint Bentley has parked in a space that’s not a space. Not remotely shocked.
