Read this article on pcgamer.com today and was saddened to see the wretched work of AI on literature. They are legally stealing the works of authors and then destroying the books they steal from, thus covering their ugly tracks. Tragic for the unwitting booksellers, sad for all book readers.
My dog, George Bailey really ought to become a professional napper. If there is such a thing.
Saw this at the Harlequin theater in Olympia yesterday. Outstanding cast, and superb production. It was so much fun to see and experience.
Sometimes, if your timing is right, you get the whole pool to yourself.
So here’s how my nap script goes - every time. I get cozy, begin the nap process. I know I’m being stared at and without even opening my eyes I say, “Well, come on.” You can guess the rest.
I’ve kept this book for a lot of years. I first read it when I was a teenager, and remember it engaged me in dystopian future science fiction. What book engaged your young mind?
Yeah, what will I be doing for July 4th? Trying to figure out how to put professional grade noise protection headphones on my dog, so he won’t piss himself while my neighbors explode fireworks in my neighborhood - that does not allow fireworks.
I whispered to my dog, George Bailey, that it’s too early for a nap. He seems to be unmoved by my entreaties, and begins to snore softly. It looks like I’ll be taking a nap now.
My daily sleep hours in a graphic made by my friend, @tetronimike.bsky.social The toughest two things - not shown here are the broken up 9 hours - it’s not contiguous and the beclouded state of being “awake”. Sink into sleep or swim awake? You get neither. I’m hungry to eat some consciousness.
I see them on the screen. Covered in dark armor, bristling with guns, seething with hatred, pushing people to the ground and beating them. Dark small hearts shrinking inside them. I saw him on the screen. His love for children, for all fellow human beings. A gentle, humble heart, a giant heart.
Not trying to make any of you jealous, but my naps come with a built-in dog warmer.
“ Caffeine limit reached” Who the hell are you to tell me my limit is reached?! Off to walk down the streets of Portland greeting every animal I meet, and singing show tunes from the 1940s while I skip rapidly down the sidewalks!!!!!!
Reading a book at 3:30 AM in Portland, Oregon. Checked my Bluesky and saw this post. How delightful. Thanks for posting it. Some of the books from my private library. Old friends, lots of good memories.
Sipping whiskey in an Oceanside bar downtown, and reading Steppenwolf by Hesse for the sixth time. Why do I keep reading this work when I have an actual library calling my name? Why don’t I write and steer around eventually insanity?
Coming up on my second nap of the day. Looks like I’ve got a willing assistant to join me!
“ She was marked with the curse of those who slink and court…” I just can’t…🤣
My early morning brain spilling the ink in Portland, Oregon. Onward.
One of my interests has been studying the Civil Rights Movement, and finding encouragement and conviction in the stories of so many beautiful souls. And now to see their legacy kicked in the face by such wicked people.
This guy is my “spirit animal” every time I click on the news lately.
Good morning, from Portland, Oregon. Living in the face of much madness and depravity in our culture, I hope each of you find your inner playfulness today and loves boldly. Onward!
I ran this by George Bailey and he gave approval to share his picture and a warm kiss.
I’m imagining the confused, befuddled faces of the alien invaders as America screams at them, “This is just FAKE NEWS! Y’all ain’t flying saucers, you don’t even look like a saucers”! And then the fading chants of, “USA, USA…” as the alien invaders leave Earth, feeling terribly sad and disgusted.
I certainly encourage reading, but find myself to be unimpressed by people who claim to read a lot of books. Reading is not necessarily reasoning. While I read books 3 to 4 hours a day, some of the reading time is devoted to what I’ll call “cognitive chewing”. Read, think - then read some more.
