Tonight marks the start of Tisha B’Av. It is the holiday in which Jews mourn the destruction of the temples and subsequent tragedies across Jewish history, which also took place on the same calendar day.
This past weekend, people across the country came together in more than 600 events to honor Congressman John Lewis' legacy and reaffirm our shared commitment to protecting our democracy and advancing justice. Thank you for showing up and helping make this powerful day of action possible.

Last night, half of the Dems in the House of Reps voted to strip foreign aid to Israel. NJN is quoted in the Forward: "The level of support for this amendment reflects a sea change in how Americans view the actions of the Israeli government." Read more: https://tinyurl.com/5ycpp2hd
104 Members of the House of Representatives just voted to end all aid to Israel. The level of support for this amendment reflects a sea change in how Americans view the actions of the Israeli government. That, not antisemitism, and not anything else, is why this happened.
We are facing the most brazen rollback of civil rights in generations – but the same spirit that fueled Selma, Montgomery, and the March on Washington lives on in our unified action. Join the #GoodTrouble Weekend of Action, July 17-19: goodtroubleliveson.org/
NJN opposes provisions in the House and Senate versions of this year’s National Defense Authorization Act that would make US support for the Israeli military nearly impossible to condition, stop, or detangle from American defense needs. Read our full statement: www.newjewishnarrative.org/nondaa

Yesterday, the counselors-in-training from Habonim Dror Camp Moshava visited the NJN office for a conversation about American and Israeli politics, the American Jewish community, and more. We had a wonderful day with the Mosh CITs and were delighted to host them for a second year in a row.

Today marks 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It’s a document that speaks in profound language about equality and about the rights to freedom, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, yet we have failed to live up to this promise in many ways.
Join us at NOON on Tues, July 7, at Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza in NYC, to protest Ben-Gvir's visit to the United Nations. Americans and Israelis reject Ben-Gvir's violent extremism and the murderous government he represents. Learn more: newjewishnarrative.org/ben-gvir-out
