As it's #Slash 's birthday today, here's a photo of him on stage in 1988. Honest.
Wrap yer lugs round this beauty of a new track from the one and only @williedowling.bsky.social You can stream it if that's your bag, or buy it for extra kudos.
Seen many, many bands here. First was Zodiac Mindwarp, latest The Almighty, but one of the best was Metallica on the Black Album tour. (They themselves admitted it was one of their favourite ever gigs)
Scorpions' Blackout! This was me in a magazine telling the story 😁
The Simpleton by @williedowling.bsky.social A cracking album indeed. For folks that like a Billy Joel/10cc/Squeeze type vibe.
21 years ago today we lost a man who helped expand my musical mind and discover countless bands and musicians. Many a Friday night I'd fall asleep to his show sometimes grateful that I'd pressed "record" so I could listen to the bits I missed. Thanks, TV on the Radio, Mr Tommy Vance. ❤️
As it's #WorldBookDay, here's a shelf of 99%of the books I own (that aren't Bloom County or Calvin and Hobbes) Elvis isn't mine and it's missing the book I have a story in. *disclaimer* I also may not have read 99% of the books pictured...
The programme is pretty good (not read the interviews yet) if they have any left. And you like that kind of thing ❤️
I bloody love drawing. Till I start. Then I bloody hate drawing. 🫤
Today in history. The first time I met and got photos of the incredibly talented Willie Dowling and then the next time, many years later (the man doesn't age!) If you enjoy 10cc, XTC, Squeeze, or wonderfull storytelling lyrics check him out on Bandcamp or the ridiculous streaming sites.
To cleanse the brain of all the dead cats being hurled around. Here's pictures around 40 years apart of one of the best multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriters around. If you dig 10cc, XTC, Squeeze or just storytelling through music. Mr Willie Dowling. Search for him on Bandcamp.
A threadcleanse for my brain. 18 years ago I spent an evening with one of my all time favourite bands. It was glorious. #TheAlmighty #Gigiversary #ReleaseTheEpsteinFiles
Never heard a better one. Not very polished, but packed full of energy and cracking tunes.
Today, back then. The Datsuns were pretty unmemorable (sorry), and Velvet Revolver were awful. Admittedly not helped by the shitty sound of the SECC and Matt Sorum turning up late, but still. Apparently the next time they played Glasgow, they were awesome 🤷
Thinking about the New York Dolls a lot over the past few days, with David's birthday recently and today marking Syl's passing. I only got to see them the once, but damn it was awesome.
The "totally unbiased" BBC were discussing the arrest of almost 500 peaceful protesters yesterday, and I decided to email the programme to ask them (nicely) to emphasise the difference between antisemitism and anti-genocide. This happened.
Here, for today's #gigiversary is an astounding line-up where everyone was at the top of their game. Electric Six The Distillers Queens Of The Stone Age The Foo Fighters And RHCP Worth every penny of the £35 it cost.
Today's #gigiversary. My second time seeing Mr Nelson, and what a blast! 10 minutes from where I used to live too.
Someone at the @BBC is going to have some questions from their right-wing overlords. 🏳️⚧️🏳️⚧️🏳️⚧️
