I made a switch for doing a 180° flip on my arcade monitor. I think it looks good! I think the logic is sound! I think I really don't want to fry the chassis when I plug it in and turn it on! But that's what I'm about to do!

I recently whipped up a guide to modifying Hori's 2019 Fighting Stick. It's a rather excellent little stick out of the box, but it also invites you tinker.

I finally finished my guide to joystick mech wiring. If you're working on an arcade joystick, it might come in handy!

If you have one of Hori's excellent Alpha joysticks you might want to modify it, because that's fun to do. But throwing a Seimitsu mech in there requires a mount plate that doesn't exist. So I made one!

Using the Japanese government's e-registration site for an upcoming visit, and the captchas they threw at me are baffling. I can't solve either of these, can you? The animal one I've solved several ways, the letters one I can't figure out at all. If the goal is to discourage visitors... 😬

I ordered a cheap class-D amp from aliexpress and installed it in my arcade cabinet, supplying it with 12V power from the existing Sega power supply. More volts would be louder, but 12V delivers a reasonable max volume for this Astro City cabinet. They're ~$12 AUD, shipped, which is insane.

User on my forum has an X68000 computer with an unusual capacitor. It's huge, and it seems to be a factory-installed component.

I've had two Wico rotary joysticks (Ikari Warriors et al) for decades and never understood why it had 2 of 12 directions with extra components. Tonight I finally beat my head against it until I figured it out. It's now on the GameSX wiki: Everything you never asked about the Wico rotary joystick.

I found a few boxes of Cisco Cereal that I'd always meant to scan, because it was delicious and I liked the boxes (and the unusual flavours). It seems to be long out of production, and I miss it. These are Strawberry, Melon and Hotcake flavours. Best corn flakes ever.

The reason I started scanning stuff today: I wanted to play Star Soldier on Gamecube, but my controller adaptor was missing some buttons. So I tried to find the manual online, or at least a controller guide, but neither seems to exist!? So I scanned the GameCube manual. ^__^

The d-pad stick was the best iteration of a bad design, but for Magical Drop I'd rather have a d-pad. We promoted the hell out of the system when it came out, I had nearly the whole library at one point. I don't know what my point is. I love it, it mostly sucks. And maybe I ruined a kid's life.

I've been doing a bit of scanning today. Here's four Neo Geo Pocket games, which is about half of all the game I have left for that system. I love the NGPC, but most of the games were awkward fighters or needed a linked system to really enjoy. On their own, Puzzle Link and Magical Drop are tops.

So today I spent 90 mins going to see the Border Control folks. They have no customer parking and there was a dead bird in front of their main door. They had a sign by the counter, facing the customer, explaining what to do in case of an armed hold up. I expected the threat to be on my side. 11/
