My take on the entire launcher family based around the Energia rocket, and its boosters. Some of these are more than a bit speculative.
I decided to check the new (to me) 11K37 rocket against a simple kitbash of Zenit 2 plus Energia boosters minus parachute recovery packs. The lineup is pretty good, much as expected. Time for a rocket model I think!
A personal work, based on a recent animation I posted here. I think it looks like a cool book cover!
The original N-1 was also meant to be capable of launching crewed flybys of Mars and Venus. BUT Korolev was unaware of the need for heavy radiation shielding at the time, and had some VERY optimistic assumptions about the crew growing their own food.
AI enlarged Soviet diagrams of a proposed Uprated Zenit rocket. Note the unusual high engine position of the core rocket. Zenit was conceived as a combination small launcher and add-on booster. Booster mode for the Energia family. So this is effectively a bundle of several Zenits.
Lunar View, after Lucien Rudaux. The original lighting made the central peak pitch black, as it was completely backlit, so I moved the Sun to one side. The Earth is unrealistically large. Terrain in #Gaea, everything else in #Lightwave3d
Another test of the new Lightwave 2026 Ocean system. I'm impressed!
Mucking about in #Lightwave 3d with a conversion of the Daz figure "Ferro".
Two more renders from the Avalon project with Aldo Spadoni, interior of the BIS Space Habitat / Company Town.
New take on the 2026 Ocean with instanced ducks. What I really like is the way the ducks are pulled with the waves. The ocean effect is NOT just a vertical displacement map, the mesh distorts with the waves, to give a lovely authentic looking movement, as they move with the swells.
Exterior of the BIS "Avalon" Space Station / Company town design The main habitat is about 1 km wide and long, with radiators. big solar panels provide power, and a solar sail is used for fuel-free station keep at the L5 Lagrange point. By me and Aldo Spadoni.
A recently completed project with Aldo Spadoni! It shows the interior of the BIS designed "Avalon" Space Habitat. A cylinder about 1 km long and wide. This is my favourite image from the project, showing a soccer match between locals & visitors! #Football #WorldCup @markstewart2001.bsky.social
Yuri Gagarin on vacation in Sochi 1961. With Korolev, not sure who the lady is. (Maybe Mrs Korolev?)
I have no idea why my rubber ducks are spinning and twitching like this... Lightwave 2026

How did I not know this before? There’s a series of resorts in Romania named after planets! And Saturn has a ring shaped lake!
New take on Jacob's Ladder in LW2026. The new THOR system is really good, loads more options to try, I wish I had had it when I was wring on Venus animations.
Alternate style electrical zap, Lightwave 2026 Still not using the advanced features yet...
First shot with Thor, Lightwave's new lightning system. Initial impression is VERY good, the simple thing is to get a zap between 2 nulls. Easy to experiment, and fast to render.
For some reason the news made me think of this picture by Salvador Dali. It shows the original narcissist, staring into a reflecting pool as he turns into a vegetable.
This book is a stunning demolition of FaceBook in general, & Snark Fuckrberg in particular. The senior staff treat each other MUCH worse than they treat their users. There's one incident where they send a mid-level manager to Korea to see if she's arrested, If not, it's safe for senior staff to go.
First mucking about with Lightwave 2026 Ocean system. The water surface is quick and dirty, but I really like the overall effect. It has a great sense of mass and movement!
