I took a point and shoot that shoots b&w with me to Canada; I enjoy this shot because at first glance it may seem odd to have something so modern looking in an image in an old style, but the first automatically operating wind turbine dates back to the 19th century, same as photography.
There's been a lot of hiking and a lot of napping in the tent in the woods
Having a lovely break from everything in 🇨🇦. In addition to it being a lovely country, this is a way I can vacation while unemployed, since I have Canadian cash accumulated over the years that I *can't* spend on my bills back home, so this is how I can go on a small vacation "without spending money."
I highly recommend an afternoon nap in a tent in the Canadian wilderness.
Decided I was no longer comfortable with the amount of health data being synched and stored on apps (especially now that FitBit requires it be linked to your Google account) plus the increased AI features, so I have left the smart watch life and now have one that is solely a watch/pedometer.
My friend's yearling, '25 Selena Sing (Mowgli), pictured here at 4 days old, just sold at the Fasig-Tipton digital sale for 19K and is off to be a racehorse! He's grown up to be such a well put together colt with a good brain. Make us proud Mowgs ❤️

I got them this one when I was at Joshua Tree in January too - whenever I go on vacation I try to get them a book from a gift shop so they can learn about all the places and then I show them my photos from the same place!
Bought the "nephews" (college roommate's kids, 4 and 2) these books on my prior travels and they asked me to read them to them while at their house today (A Bus Ride Into Denali is both of their favorite book. 🥹)
My friend had surgery a short time ago and is about 1/3 of the way through recovery so it was nice to have low key couch/TV show/movie time with the animals. We were delighted to find George of the Jungle on Disney Plus.
Drove to a friend's house for a few days (see cat photo from earlier today) and it was a nice break from the anxiety/depression over my work/financial situation. Her Shepherds were just as happy to see me as Salem.
Got to spend time with one of my favorite kitties the last few days (he belongs to my friend Christina, his name is Salem and he is the best.)
It has been a HOT MINUTE since I've photographed the thoroughbreds but it was a nice, albeit hot and humid, morning at the track today. (I prefer mornings to afternoons because the vibe is more chill and there are way less people.)
Last year's solstice, infinitely better than this year's (during which I am doing nothing fun or cool).
Financial insecurity sucks and coming out of an interview where you really don't think you could have done any better and they just liked someone else more also sucks. I just want to be able to pay my own bills without stressing about it every month and actually be able to plan for the future.
I also got to share it with my best friend, who is Orange County CA born and raised but enjoys outdoorsy adventures, she just prefers to do them with someone with more experience because you don't know what you don't know and she trusts me to keep us safe. It was her first visit to Alaska.
