(She/her) Artist - London, UK I love portraits and SFF illustrations ❤️ Oil and digital My first Magic card was released! Yay! 🤘 When I’m not at home painting or reading, you’ll probably find me listening to live music or at the theatre 💚
Heyyy it’s #portfolioday!! And it’s my second day back to freelancing full time ✨✌️ I’m Francesca, Italian artist based in London ❤️ I hope to work more with book publishers and do more mtg cards because those have been really fun! And we’ll see what else will happen!! 💖
I like mine! All colours I would wear!! 😂 maybe not all together tho!
I’m sure many of you make their own sketchbook already, but for me this was a first! Probably the simplest of all: a concertina watercolour sketchbook 🥰 isn’t it cute?? I love that I can use whatever paper I want and exactly the size that works for me! Show me yours!!
Artists! Quote with your most detailed art!! I think it’s this one? I was crying 💀 it was my first magic card so I wanted to make a good impression but it took me sooo long 😂 and I know it’s not even super detailed for many people!
Today, I’m trying to finish an illustration. It’s quite complex for me, with several characters… I usually prefer simpler compositions, but I’m really proud of this one! So, I took a break and went outside… and did a sketch from a cafe 😂 because obviously that’s how you take a break from painting!
I’m maybe too proud of this one 🫣 but I’m very very happy with this result! This time, I painted the same model in the same pose during several classes, mentored by Charlie Pickard. It’s such a different challenge from painting alla prima, but I had a great teacher! Can’t wait to do this again!!✌️
A month ago or so, we did a special life drawing session to create sketches for a Selfridges window. We had two models wearing an outfit from the new collection, very short poses, movement, very big paper and the result is a bit different from my usual style. But fun! What do you think?
Ohhh I’m very proud of myself now ✨🤣 I feel I had more difficulties with pinks/fuchsia colours but I’m not sure, would be interesting to see a statistic of where most of my wrong answers landed! www.keithcirkel.co.uk/whats-my-jnd...
Happy World Book Day 📚 ✨ 📖 My love for illustrations started with my love for books, so here are some of the ones I had the privilege to work on during these years ❤️❤️❤️
Let’s add some progress shots for people who like a look behind the scenes 👀
My latest painting ❤️ oil on gessoed wood panel Painted for EveryDay Original (now live on their website ✨✨✨) Reference by @howardlyonart.bsky.social
Currently on my easel ❤️ work in progress, my next piece for Every Day Originals. Yesterday I painted the first pass in oils, there is still a lot to do but I’m happy with where this is going! Big thanks to @howardlyonart.bsky.social for his reference packs, those are always my favourites 😁
Some charcoal sketches from yesterday’s life drawing session ❤️ the model is amazing (Hannah - IG: spe.echka) 2mins, 5mins, 10 mins and 15 mins poses
Some charcoal sketches from tonight’s life drawing session! Not my best night, but it’s always relaxing and it’s good to draw with no distractions! ❤️
Charcoal sketches from yesterday’s life drawing session at Topolski Studio ❤️ poses of different lengths, from 2 minutes to 20 minutes Model IG: sarah.lowndes
These days, I’m really grateful for the small things that bring me joy! So I painted a still life of my new perfume’s bottle, because smelling it makes me happy ❤️ (the perfume, not the painting!) That’s the magic of art ✨ The painting is oil on canvas and the perfume is Gris Charnel #oilpainting
Hey artist! Quote with something dramatic 🎭 I usually don’t do very dramatic scenes, I had all my family checking on me when I posted this the first time 😂
Some 15 minutes portraits from yesterday’s portrait session at Southbank 💙 it’s blue and white acrylic paint. It’s really fun to paint these quick portraits 🥰
Yesterday evening I was quite tired, but I’m happy I stuck to my plan and went to my life drawing session! Not the best drawings I ever did, but it always helps me relax and slow down. The model was great, btw! (IG: giuseppeclaudio_theartmodel) #lifedrawing
And we are back!! ✌️ first life drawing session of the year!! Today, lifemodelpau posed for us at candidartstrust ❤️ Long pose session hosted by alexbeckinlondon 4hr pose, oil on canvas 🎨 I missed this! #oilpainting
Hiii! Thank you for the artshare! I’m Francesca from London, fantasy artist and oil painter 🫶❤️ Ahh I have a deadline next week so I haven’t been doing things I can show very recently 😬 this is my latest portrait, tho! Hopefully after next Wednesday I will have time to go on with some personal art ❤️
QRP with your artwork and share what other passions/jobs/hobbies you have! ✨ I go to as many music gig as I can, all my tshirts are band tshirts bc you gotta support the artists, I can play the piano (badly) and now I’ve started drums, I also read a lot of SFF books but that’s probably a given?
QRP to reintroduce yourself! Hello to all the new people!! ❤️❤️❤️ I’m Francesca, London based Italian artist! Sometimes I work for SFF novels, sometimes I paint cards for mtg and I’m studying oils so you’ll see a lot of that too! Happy to discuss art and fantasy books, welcome welcome!! 🥰❤️
Welcome back artists! 🖌️🎨✨ Quote Post with an old piece that you still like! —— This is a fanart of Rand from the Wheel of Time I painted in… oh wow… 2012!! 😅
Aww thank you!! I loved painting her even if I don’t usually paint many full body figures 😂 but it’s true that she is so small on the card ❤️
…I can’t yet show and will be secret for a couple of years more 🤫 Oil portraits and life drawing kept being the core of my personal art, reminding me how fun it is to paint just for myself ❤️ It’s been a good year, I’m excited for the next one! 🫶
#artVsArtist2025 This year, two projects I worked on in previous years got finally released: my cards for the Final Fantasy x MtG set and the collector’s edition of The book of the Ancestor, that I illustrated ❤️ While some very cool things I’ve worked on this year…
Artists who do life drawing regularly, do you stick with the same medium and pose length every time or do you vary? I’ve been doing short and long poses, portraits and nudes, with charcoal, oils, digital, pencil, acrylics… it’s so fun, dunno if it’s the best way to improve but who cares? 😂
