Waiting on this render in Blender is killing me. It'll be worth it but I'm impatient.
Wow! The latest Blender update really improved volume rendering. My render times are so much faster now. Volumes used to nearly double my render time but look at this. I need to adjust the fig settings but barely over a second difference
My most recently finished illustration. I was really anxious I wouldn't get it done in time to have prints made before NecronomiCon but I did it. Also I really need to use Rebelle more often because the oil painting texture and metallics are are just so good
I needed a break from my animation project tonight so working on this mermaid I drew back for MerMay and has been sitting as a sketch unfinished on my iPad since. Using Artstudio Pro for this one since it has pigment mixing and I intend to finish this with Rebelle.
Been working on 3d models for my animation project and now I have these cute little candles in Blender. They came out much more realistic than I'd hoped. Also all the flames are the same video loop just with slightly different offsets which worked out nicely.
New skill unlocked! Baking normal maps from a high poly to a low poly(ish) model in Blender.
Is Fusion the right software to design a traveler notebook cover to laser cut? Maybe not, but it's the software I know and I know how to set up parametric designs in it so I can adjust it for size without having to redo everything.

Because what's another hobby? My first fountain pen arrived today. I've used dip pens for years for inking art and I love them so I don't know why it took so long for me to get a fountain pen for writing. I've had it for like 3 hours and I may never write with ballpoints again.

I'm a kid of the 80s and 90s who always loved fantasy. My biggest influences were the cover art for books, films, and roleplaying games. So artists like Frank Frazetta, Brian Froud, Michael Whelan, and James Gurney. Along with countless artists who've worked on D&D and M:tG.

Today in my Blender learning journey, I figure out how to make VDM brushes from existing models. So I'm making some brushes using (public domain/CC0) 3d scans of fossils from museums. These are the first couple.
Today I'm learning the basics of soft body simulation in Blender. This light (with better textures) will gently swing in my animation project so I need the pull chain to react to that. This projects is a bit overwhelming at times. I only have until August 14 to get it done.
Animation test for some moths I'll be adding to my animation project. All I really animated was the wing flapping, the rest was done by a boid particle system in Blender. I don't even pretend to understand the math for particle systems, I just messed around with the settings until it looked right.
Oil painting is just so nice. What do you mean if I forget to rinse my brush for 10 minutes it's not ruined? So here's how my first oil painting is looking so far. Might never go back to acrylics
One of my friends was kind enough to take me to the hardware store today so I could get some MDF and now I have the linoleum for linocuts mounted, including the one I already did. Now I can do some carving and printing.
Which would be one of its issues though I don't mind that so much because it's also incredibly customizable. This is what my Krita window looks like for example. Though I'm not sure any UI enrages me quite as much as CSP. I wish I could like it, the tools are great, but I hate it so much.
Couple fun little pieces I've done lately for sticker designs. The ghost skull actually started as a sketch for a full painting of a Necromancer that I ended up hating everything but that part and wanted to salvage it. Was up absurdly late last night because I hyperfocussed on doing these studies. Got to finish them today.
My new prints arrived! Of course on the hottest possible day so getting them all sleeved is going to be exhausting. Still they're here and beautiful. I got more sizes than just this but this shows each of the pieces I had printed.
The more I play with Artstudio Pro on iPad the more I'm surprised it's not more popular. It feels like a really nice middle ground between Procreate and ClipStudio. Also it has PIGMENT mixing! Which makes me so happy because I do a lot of blending
