Scott McVay [NodToNothing]
@nodtonothing
Scott from Minnesota, Minneapolis tangential. Tech, politics, writing, bicycling, reading [scifi and more], board games. No DMs unless I know you extremely well. I do tend to block non-locals lately to keep my scope to MN and the Twin Cities.
Given we have moved into the most hazardous air quality ever, I think we need to add gradations to the AQI. We are no longer at Maroon one....we are at Maroon Five.
I took my annual compliance training today with it's assurances nepotism is not ok and I absolutely would not engage in it (or giving or receiving bribes) or lose my job. I guess if she's highly qual....oh...."hasn't been in office before." (PBS.org)
I bet this is from Batman.... it's hard to be a billionaire.
My wife and I went to this last week at the Phoenix and they used the hoop as Juliet's window.
Got some fanboy on and went to see where the author of Game of Thrones was born.
@elrubino.bsky.social , I am a little weirded out by the coincidence.
Took a pedal by the river. When I washed up there were several dozen gnats and one green worm on the shower floor. Maybe the only thing that ever makes me feel guilty about a bike ride.
My head and eyes are itchy from all the flowers and greening, and yet this is my birdbath.
Pedaled my way to a slice of Bumbleberry in Stockholm. The Amish kids on RAGBRAI assured me it's for children. Not if I eat it all first.
Thought @elrubino.bsky.social might enjoy these photos from my bike ride past the falls yesterday if he hasn't encountered this vehicle before.
Strait of Hormuz vibe coding takes less than a minute. The pygame pip install almost took longer than generating the code. Nicer than I expected. Figured I'd just get ASCII. Code structure is very similar to what you build incrementally in Eric Matthes' book Python Crash Course.
Count the turtles! Blackhawk Park in Eagan, Minnesota.
I like All Square up the road (from Sea Salt) and if outside is full you can just take your food to Arbeiter. Parkway has an outside space as well. Here's an actual picture from Okome last weekend. First time there. Very good.
Beautiful although a bit windy. I did an extra loop so I could enjoy the wind pushing me toward Eagan. Maxed out my gears. Gearmaxxing as the kids say. 29 miles. Only 643' of climb. Saw a very disheveled bald eagle who seemed annoyed at the breeze. #30DaysOfBiking
What is this weather? Looks like the forecast actually drops to <32F overnight after that for a couple of days. Maybe I need to insert a heater thread/wire in my bike like those old battery powered mittens if I want to do morning rides.
Barely rode today. So here's my Surly Midnight, my primary. My Surly fat tire. Not pictured my last Trek my kid uses hanging in the rafters. And my wall of dead bikes (broken frames and wheels). Two others in the shed for donating soon. #30DaysOfBiking
Pedaled up to the fancier grocery store in Eagan in a hat and gloves and a few layers to look for Ditalini for pea and chickpea pasta. Fail. Had to order it. Lot of cars trying to run me over this early in the season. #39DaysOfBiking
I avoided the cold and rainy weather with an indoor ride. But I went wild and signed up for a 56 mile gravel ride in Mies end of month. Now I have a goal . #30DaysOfBiking
Conscience at Theatre in the Round in Minneapolis. An excellent Joe McCarthy. The bathroom scene was brutal.
Slow ride around the neighborhood fat-tire style to do some chores. Then back home to refuel. #30DaysOfBiking
Penis tree on the Cannon River somewhere between Cannon Falls and Welch. My six year old (also in a tube) laughed. I didn't realize I should have called the cops.
