I love coffee, pets, and people who care about others more than power or money. Dislikes: racism and lima beans. Professional Christian, newspaper employee, public library trustee. Proud Pro-semite. She/her.
I recently embarked on a reread of #Discworld, for reasons. I always liked the Watch books, but I'd read them in such a haphazard order that I didn't properly appreciate Vimes. I have always appreciated Terry Pratchett's comedic genius, though.
I apparently never took a decent picture of Big Alex, but I also found this, in my search.
I was looking for a picture of Big Alex (RIP), and found the Des Moines Butter Chalice instead. Ahh, those were the days... #ccdoc
When I was a kid, erasable ball point pens were all the rage. They were kind of globby, but that was a small price to pay when hand-writing out an essay. But lefties could not really use them, because that left hand just schmeeered the ink across every word.
She does the giant hair content for clicks (and thus income), so I can ignore that part. But there is no excuse for that nasty ass makeup sponge. 🤢
I found this brass lamp in my grandparents' shed yesterday. Makes me want to quit all my jobs and start restoring vintage decor full-time. What's your secret dream career, the one you envision in your happier alternate reality?
He was intense as heelers usually are, but also extremely adept at sleeping in ways that cracked us up.
We said goodbye to our Sam this morning. After months of decline it became clear that the bad days were now outnumbering & outweighing the good. He and his "brother" Jake were my first dogs, rescued after their first owner passed in 2020. If there's a heaven, I hope they're happily reunited now.
I took our govt's advice and planted a backyard garden. This bountiful harvest is definitely going to keep me fed all summer, right?
I haven't spent much time in "tongues" sort of churches so I never researched it, but I have wondered about the connection to non-Xtn indigenous traditions. Now I have new books on my to-read list... I couldn't find ebonyjanice.com here, if she is, please share her handle.
Did I spend a considerable part of my evening reading this transcript? Yep. Here's my favorite part.
We started living with my Mom in 2018, and we adopted heelers Jake & Sam two years later. Jake and she quickly became besties. She fed him snacks in her downstairs apartment, and in turn he peered lovingly at her with his deep brown eyes, in a way that no pet had ever done before.
My dog Jake suddenly took to staring off the end of our deck, and intermittently barking. He usually reserves his voice for demanding to be let in or out, and yelling at barn cats. This was clearly not either of those reasons. After two days of this going on, I figured out why. And now I'm sad.
The 'Facts of Life' episode when Tootie almost got trafficked is memorable in a Very Bad Way.
This guy is on my TV in the morning, saying that he doesn't trust the "dadgum government," and demanding release of unredacted info on extraterrestrials. He looks like one of the aliens smacked his glasses crooked just before air.
It's Holy Saturday, my sermon for tomorrow isn't done yet, my house is a wreck, and I am watching Monty Python's Life of Brian. How's your day going?
VERY IMPORTANT AND URGENT QUESTION: Is "molasses" a singular or plural word? (I did an internet search this morning, and at least 1/3 of the posts I read used plural verbs, implying the existence of a single "molass.")
After sitting up to yell at the mail carrier for a moment Sam has re-situated, doubling down on his protest against my attempts at productivity.
Sam is often a dirty dirty seat stealer, but this time he's disabled access to my notes so I shan't be too annoyed. Instead I will sit on the floor and drink another cup of coffee before attempting further work.
I tried to look it up, but had to bail after I saw a Facebook thread about this poster. The comments were exactly what I expected, lol. Does she think these haircuts are the pinnacle of trichological diversity?
In the coming months I will relish shredding/burning/composting all the maga mail addressed to my mother. Today we received a solicitation to reserve a copy of Charlie Kirk's book. Is it just me, or does it kinda look like the title is "Stop God"?
Going through the many papers in my now-deceased parents' file cabinets, and happened upon this picture. Funny what a decade of Trump has done, because now the answer is "Yeah, kinda, I guess?"
