Eryri, October 2021. The top of the Nantlle Ridge in strong wintry sunshine. A stupid middle-aged man in a St. Pauli baseball cap & aviators stares off at something out of shot; a bulldog-bull terrier cross in a special doggo-climbing harness attempts to clamber over his left shoulder, either staring at the same thing or, possibly, trying to get at a distant sheep.

To distract for but a moment from the unremitting horror of this world, it's Lola's 13th birthday today. Here she appears in her annual guise of "Burfday Kween", after a fishy breakfast.

A small elderly black & white French bulldog cross (obviously the most beautiful animal ever to have existed) contemplates the ineffable whilst sitting on a very old sofa. The text "happy birthday Lola!" has been added to the bottom of the picture, & various graphical objects have been superimposed on the photo to emphasise the celebratory nature of the occasion. Upon the dog's head has been drawn a rough representation of a crown in MS Paint. The dog is very, very regal indeed.

Went up Pen-y-Ghent. 10/10, would climb up again. PS: View on the way *up* was priceless; as you can probably tell the cloud was too low to see fuck-all from the top. Still awesome, mind. PPS: Lola walked down the other side, in case you were wondering. PPPS: She was uninterested in Hull Pot.

The same middle-aged Gyppo at the top of Pen-Y-Ghent, having climbed so far up that he's now in the clouds & the beautiful view is obscured. Metaphor for life, or something. He did, at least, not have a bulldog on his back at this juncture.

Lola gazes in wonder across Hull Pot, rumoured to be the "largest natural hole in Britain" (all jokes RE: the author possessing the largest natural hole in Britain to the usual address), probably at some tasty-looking sheep on the far side.
