If you’re a staff journalist here to rewrite my posts, you can at least credit me as a fellow journalist. Ty!
Large protest at Monument Square in Portland, Maine. Plans to march to Susan Collins’ office after the last speaker.
Pretty big showing at the protest outside of the Scarborough Maine ICE admin building, but it ended early after a counter protester with a gun showed up.
I’m here at the ICE building in Scarborough, Maine where a protest is taking place. A right wing supporter of ICE is trying to disrupt the event; he just yelled allahu akbar.
A lot of confusion over this. Atlantic Industrial Coatings and Mid-America Industrial Coatings are who did the sealant work to begin with. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...
The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool continues to drain today. Once it’s empty, Atlantic Industrial Coating will repair the sealant.
Workers still dismantling the set up for Freedom 250’s Salute to America, a one night event that occurred on July 4th (separate from the Great American State Fair). The area between the Washington Monument and the WW2 memorial remains closed to pedestrians.
I went on it the last night of the fair and it went around once. Seemed stupid and unlikely to be normal, but maybe that’s what a Ferris wheel is?
Closed out the final day of the Great American State Fair tonight. Here’s a quick video showcasing some of the architecture on its last night.
Finally was able to watch the Netflix documentary The American Experiment, which used some of my footage. It came out while I was living at the reflecting pool, so I missed the release.
“We’re gonna make Pluto great again,” said NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman during his panel at the Great American State Fair.
Screening of The Great Awakening tonight at the Great American State Fair.
Workers continue to clean up debris from the fireworks show at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. 7/6/26.
I feel like more government officials watch my videos than I had ever dreamed possible.
Calley Means in conversation with acting FDA commissioner Kyle Diamantas and Steak and Shake Chief MAHA Officer Michael Boes at the Great American State Fair.
MAHA panel at the Great American State Fair has kicked off with a joke about the journalists (derogatory) in the crowd.
At 7:42, motorcycle cops showed up. At this point, they were already threatening to arrest people for refusing to leave over at the separate, more secure zone around the Washington Monument. I left the premises at 8:08 -- 1 hour and 10 min after the first closure announcement.
But the fly overs never stopped! People cheered on the planes, played catch, and continued to enjoy the fair. I asked a Marshal if they were really closing. Yes, but "no one gives a rats ass," he said. At 7:30, National Guard started to usher people out.
Video thread - the evacuation of the Great American State Fair on July 4 took well over an hour. A little after 6:30, they started to shut down the main stage. People largely stayed in their spots as the automated message announcing the fair was closing played on repeat.
Firework cleanup at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool this afternoon.
Great American State Fair evacuation was a disaster and took over an hour. There is no structure or order outside the venue, even as people crowd and try to line back up. People are upset and saying they’re going home. No matter what happens now, today is ruined for a lot of families who came here.
I’m here at Meridian Hill/Malcolm X Park, where protesters are greeting Peter Hegseth as he arrives for a ceremony related to President Trump’s Make DC Safe and Beautiful Task Force.
Workers appeared to be laying some kind of netting across the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool this evening, presumably in preparation for the fireworks on July 4.
Some updates on Trump’s arch at the Great American State Fair (repost with video this time. Sorry, it’s really hard to do video on Bluesky!!)
Oh, i’m afraid of it at all. I actually hope I get stuck on it — If I can do this, I can do that. But everyone who’s agreed to go with me so far has been. Not of heights, but of shitty workmanship.
