🇨🇦 N of 62°32’, off-grid dweller, chronically on-line, cranky crone with ultracrepidarian tendencies. And yes, I play the ukulele. And Taiko drums. Badly. Not at the same time.
I can’t have a full time dog anymore so I borrow them. This is Joey, who’s spending the day with me. Lovely guy.
Marine Nowcast-July 29, 8:43 AM. Winds from the SE at 5 knots, ripple to light chop conditions. Helios’ chariot has risen part way up a clear but hazy sky, bringing temperatures up to +23°C thus far.
Happy nurturer day to all those who sacrifice their time, energy, and comfort for the well-being of living things.
Went to a dahlia workshop. I expected a handful of people at an event about (what I always thought were) granny flowers. Nope, about 50 folks, passionate about growing these beauties that take 120 days to bloom, undeterred by our 60 frost free days a season. Infectious enthusiasm. Such fun.
Maybe just offer more choice so we can buy mini trucks here, and not import >15 yo trucks from across the pacific! The little guy to the left is perfect for buzzing around with minimal fuel consumption.
Oh yeah. Great snow trudge this afternoon. Excellent light show tonight.
And/or get outside. Sadly, nowadays, for some folks on Bluesky, one has to add “if it’s safe to do so”.
Starting the day with my usual self-inflicted case of cognitive dissonance, induced by watching the pink sunrise, having my nostrils tickled by amazing omelette and coffee smells as hubby preps breakfast, and scrolling horror stories on social media.
Good morning from the (relatively) balmy territories. You stay warm too.
It seems most of the snow in our area has fallen largely on our roof. I pulled it all down today. Now I’ll shovel it all off the deck tomorrow. The gift that keeps giving😬.
It was a balmy -24°C today🥶. Just a couple of degrees warmer and my glasses wouldn’t have frosted up, but as it was, I couldn’t see where I was going. Still a good day for a trudge though, as I try to accumulate more kilometers for my #WalktoTuk.
Here’s mine. Not really, I had to use AI to compete with your amazingly fancy ass one. That is truly a treasure.
A porcupine, seemed it was on a mission, its trail went quite straight for as far as I could see.
-30°C Snowshoeing. The photo doesn’t do the gorgeous pastel light justice.
I ran out of excuses not to go snowshoeing so I headed out. But really, once I got past the excuses, there’s nothing better than trudging through frosty pastel forests when daylight’s bidding adieu.
8:20 AM, -27°C, and some nice decorative frost on the birch. A beautiful start to a day at 62°N.
Sunday AM coffee N of 60°. Weirdly warm outside so it’s an outdoor morning coffee day.
Friends made a new marquee for our tiny tawdry home theatre after our last DIY marquee was consumed in a structural fire. I’m totally loving the new one.
