The chorus is growing louder! 🐺🎶Our three-month-old critically endangered American Red Wolf pups are practicing their howls at our offsite facility. Howling helps wolves communicate with their pack, strengthen social bonds, and announce their presence across long distances. ❤️

Bobcats Tanner and Tahoma couldn’t resist investigating today’s enrichment! 🐾 Watch as they rub, roll, and scent-mark a pizza box. For cats, scent marking is a natural behavior used to communicate and claim territory, making simple items like a cardboard box an exciting enrichment experience.

Check out the stunning antler growth on the bull elk. Every year, the males will grow in a new set of antlers (covered in soft velvet), and during summer months, their antlers can grow up to 3/4 inches a day!

Our bison herd is growing again! 💗 Three adorable bison calves are staying close to their moms and learning the ways of the herd in the Free-Roaming Area.

Marigold is stinkin’ cute! 🦨💛 Bigger, fluffier, and sporting even more white than her skunk pal Sundew, Marigold definitely stands out. Her white belly is especially unique, which is an uncommon trait for a striped skunk!

Meet Luna and Calli! 🫎💚 These two 4-year-old rescued moose are enjoying summer in the Free-Roaming Area, where guests may spot them browsing, exploring, or relaxing among the trees.

Five elk calves have joined the herd, and these little ones are already keeping up with the adults as they explore their 435-acre home. Elk calves rely on their spotted coats for camouflage during their first months of life, helping them stay hidden from predators while they grow stronger.

When the forecast calls for sunshine, our resident critters know exactly how to chill. 😎 Our pine marten and skunks were treated to some icy enrichment to help beat the heat. Ice enrichment encourages natural exploration, foraging, and problem-solving while keeping cool.

Happy 10th Birthday, Hudson! 🦫 Our birthday boy celebrated his big day with some of his favorite treats, including a crunchy snack assortment and a special ice cake packed with herbivore pellets and extra veggies!

You may notice something new on one of our elk! One of our 13-year-old elk is now wearing a GPS collar, helping staff locate and monitor the herd across our 435-acre Free-Roaming Area. A big thank you to the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe for donating this technology.

The otter sisters are putting their noses to work! 🦦🦦 Oakley and Blakely spent time exploring fabric enrichment filled with hidden treats. By tucking snacks into folds and pockets, keepers encourage natural foraging behaviors, giving the curious sisters a fun challenge.

The wood ducks are back! 🦆 And they're not the only interesting birds making an appearance. Check out this wild Greylag/Canada Goose hybrid recently spotted at Northwest Trek! From colorful wood ducks to rare hybrids, there's always something new to discover.

Calli knows how to reach the best snacks! With her long legs and impressive height, Calli can browse leaves, twigs, and fresh growth high in the trees that many other animals can't reach. Moose are built for browsing, using their flexible lips and strong tongues to pull vegetation from branches.
