Slow #parkrun today. My knees can’t handle 5km two days in a row.
A very sobering watch of the National Emergency Briefing this evening. We have to go harder and faster at tackling climate change. Thank you for @iamnicksimpson.bsky.social, @alistaircford.bsky.social and @space4gosforth.bsky.social for organising and hosting.
I dread to think how many microfibres will be generated through use and upkeep 😬 Then what the overall environmental impact of this is in comparison to standard grass turf.
Newcastle City Council announced investment in grass cutting, potholes, bulky waste collection and youth services amongst other things! 💪 #LiberalDemocrats new.newcastle.gov.uk/news/2026/cl...
First full council done! It makes me proud to know that our Council recognised and looks to strengthen trans and non-binary rights & also agreed to protect and expand the number of trees across the city. Whilst we didn’t cover everything on the agenda. I got to speak on both of these motions! 🏳️⚧️🌳
Another day, another piece of graffiti reported within the ward! 👍 Crumble was less than impressed that her evening walk was turned into a photo shoot
😬 @octopus.energy ignoring @ofgem.gov.uk rules regarding back billing and instead sending us a revised bill whilst simultaneously removing money from our account because they didn’t bill us correctly in 2023. We have a smart meter. You billed us three years ago. Why now do you say it was wrong?
Another day. Another parkrun done. Approx 23.08 Really struggled this morning. I think I really need to dedicate some time to doing some exercise across the week. Especially given Council meets are taking up my evenings. #Parkrun
As somebody with strong military collections it’s great to have been able to join colleagues at the first Armed Forces day for a few years. Paying tribute to our service people, veterans and cadets, whose dedication and sacrifice protect our country and the freedoms we enjoy.
Crumble had a paddle to cool off this evening. Kind of wish I could have joined her, but I think the other walkers by would have been scarred for life.
Today has been a great. I’ve been talking everything transport related. From buses, to the Tyne Bridge, or going for a walk and coffee with some of the passionate people from @space4gosforth.bsky.social. Newcastle has real opportunity now to strive for better active and public transport.
A really good evening spent at an ABConnexion event. A mix of networking, good food and a fantastic fireside chat from Jalf Ali - an absolute powerhouse when it comes to Newcastle’s food scene, a hugely successful businessman and incredible public speaker too.
Found a pile of NO2 canisters dumped in a hedge. There is absolutely no way the containers like these are being used for ‘food use’. The government needs to close this loophole and clamp down on sellers. I worry we will see a whole generation of people needing care for Vit B12 SACD. #DrugAbuse
Today was the regional final of the Young Traders Market at Grainger Market. Seeing and talking to hugely passionate people who have found a niche and run with it was really amazing! It’s great seeing new business ideas starting up here in the City.
Had the great pleasure of being able to watch the Pride flag being raised outside the Civic today. Small things can have a big impact when it comes to making people feel welcome, loved and represented here in Newcastle. #Pride #Newcastle #LGBTQ
I loved every minute of it. It’s both humbling and makes you appreciate the life we ourselves spend on this planet. But also makes you wonder - are we alone? Also got to see dinosaurs. Which is always a plus!
I was excited to be invited to #Life this evening to join them for a showing of Life: the greatest story. This award-winning immersive show, produced by Life & narrated by actor Alex Kingston, tells the story of the origins of life on Earth& explores the question - does life exist on other planets?
I just had a really great conversation with Work and Thrive Newcastle, learning more about the work they are doing with groups across the city. A group of passionate people working hard to support people get good jobs, learn new skills or just get some advice on #career options. #Newcastle #LibDem
Another day, another morning spent logging fly tipping across the ward. 😒 #LibDem #WardCouncillor #FlyTipping
Still doing No Mow May! It’s really lovely watching the grass blow in the wind. Yellow rattle is starting to flower too. Half way down weeding the beds. Got a few more evenings to get back on top of things. #Nature #BioDiversity
I also have a casework win because some fly tipped garden waste I reported has been removed. 🥳 #WardCouncillor #LibDem 🔶
A two hour dog walk around the ward today. Crumble enjoyed the sniffing & exploring. I picked up a load of different casework, from fly tipping, to loose kerbstones, to hazardous waste at some flats.
Crumble is excited to go for a walk along the beach this evening! #DogsOfBluesky
It must be the night for it! I just made lemon drizzle too and thought something similar 😅
The three stages of cake baking having a run around at the weekend. Crumble is the most over baked of the lot 🤣
