It was pretty fun. I'm the big insect lover of the family. My wife has now taken to saying "Oo! Look! Interesting bug!" As she knows I will drop everything to come take a look. 😅 Didn't get a ton of good insect pics, but here are a couple.

Giant, well hidden, hand sized cockroaches on a fake log. Plus surprise millipedes.

A fist-sized Apple Snail, the largest freshwater snail species in the world, coming out of its shell (and it's been doin' just fine), saying hi to the camera.

Sorry, I forget what kind of moth this is, but such a beauty with its 6-7" wingspan and yellow feathery antenna.

I mean, yeah, if you have a billion pumps stretching to the horizon in two lanes, okay, you get a bit of a pass there. 😅 Okay. I tried the regular cinnamon nuggets and the "bold and spicy" and both were kinda meh to me. Bold and spicy they were neither. Mrs Ocho did like the white cheddar, though.

Road Trip Day 7: Final day in New Orleans (wife's conference is now over), picked up some more beignets and a chicory cafe au lait, took Little Ocho to an aquarium (and insectarium), and took a trolley down to the fanciest McD's ever.

Road Trip Day 6: Day 3 in New Orleans. Visited some more bookstores, a voodoo museum, and generally took it easier today, although running out of touristy stuff to do. Thankfully, tomorrow is the conferences last day.

Road Trip Day 5: Day 2 in New Orleans, checked out a bunch of Gabriel Knight locales. A French Quarter bookshop with stacks everywhere, inside St Louis Cathedral, and the Napoleon House. Also the Museum of Illusions, which Little Ocho loved.

Road Trip Day 4: 1st day in NOLA and did a bunch of touristy things. Had beignets and pralines in Jackson Square. Ate Po-Boys while listening to jazz at an outdoor cafe in the French Market. Took a guided city bus tour. Quite tired now, though, it was a hot one.

Road Trip Day 3: Atlanta, GA to New Orleans, LA. Went to our first Buc-ee's in Alabama, and then went to our second Buc-ee's in Mississippi. Fun place. Finally made it to New Orleans and into our 25th floor room where we'll stay for the next few days. Nice view.

Road Trip Day 2: Durham, NC to Atlanta, GA. Lots of storms on the road, even a house being transported that was losing its shingles everywhere. Stopped at a drive-in, a Loves to wait out a storm, and I pumped my own gas for maybe the 5th time in my life.

I always do some project before I leave for a big trip, and this time it was setting up some outdoor solar-powered lights. These are called "firefly lights", they blink in and out, look at how stinkin' cute they are.

Picked up some Red White & Blue Nutty Buddies from Walmart and I feel they're the perfect encapsulation of America today. Instead of two, there's one, and that one is half the size. Wrapped in the flag and you get much less for more cost. Yup, that's America.

See? My wife says he's cute. I thought "what would a combination of the letters OCHO look like it a little dude?" and this is what I came up with. Little clippy-like, sure, but distinct. I dig him.
