I’m a train wreck, but like 25 people think I’m funny, and isn’t that all that matters? Immune compromised wife, mother, and coffee addict. Swears a lot. Socially awkward. PNW for life.
Just a couple of Braves fans celebrating the 20 year anniversary of the last day they were single at Truist Park yesterday. 😂 Today we celebrate 20 years of us with a tour of Truist Park, Waffle House, and another game. This Oregonian was not at all prepared for the humidity btw.
It's distinctly possible colleges and universities sending out ads to high school kids are keeping USPS afloat. This is less than a year's worth, and doesn't take into account the emails and texts my kid has gotten. (Fun fact: the 1st hbd text she got was from a college. 😂)
You ever get around to completing the framing of a piece you finished a year ago, only to realize you fucked up in a very noticeable way? 🤦🏼♀️
This was my livingroom without any lights on at 4:30 PM in early September, when the sun still sets after 7:30. We typically don't turn the overhead light on until about an hour before sunset. When I say the smoke was blocking out the sun, I'm not exaggerating. PEOPLE RAN IN THIS.
My first Bluesky block was this gal's gal who thinks it's not rape unless it's proven in court, and we actually hurt victims when we believe them. I provided her with the stats on rape prosecutions, and she called me a dumbass. Internalized misogyny is dragging us all backwards.
"In order for it to be rape I would have to be credibly proven in a court of law" is not "it holds more credibility if it's proven in a court of law." Since these are the stats for reported rapes, you claiming you care about victims is pretty comical. rainn.org/facts-statis...
The dorks who live on the 8th hole have been lighting off fireworks since 7 PM while golfers were actively still golfing, and it's been constant ever since. Thousands of dollars on fire to give your neighbors a show during daylight hours. Geniuses. The brilliance of it all. So smart.
Anytime someone complains about floppers in soccer, I'm reminded of this meme that came out of the women's World Cup in 2015, which I immediately emailed to every family on my daughter's club soccer team.
I'm gonna miss having little sketches lying around the house. Just 14 months 'til she leaves for college.
Had a needlessly exciting morning before I finished my 1st cup of coffee. 😂 I was straight up ready to brawl in my satin nightgown and robe, proving once again you can take the girl out of the neighborhood but not the neighborhood out of the girl.
Hubs is a twin. Hubs is a teacher. Hubs had his twin show up for twin day at his school. I, of course, made fun of them for wearing different shoes.
My goal is to visit these unimaginably large trees during the fall. Maybe I'll start planning for October 2027.
The number of people willing to take their chances at the Scholls Ferry RR crossing will never not stress me out. It's an active track! And maybe you ARE moved up enough the train wouldn't clip your back bumper, but why even risk it? The WES train was literally due any second. Just stay back, ffs.
Saw some screaming and hollering on here about Spanberger's affordable drug veto. I think I'll take the opinion of my (very expensive to live with) disease's advocacy group over people who like throwing tantrums on the internet.
I've seen a couple posts and comments calling for Oregon to re-district. That's just asking for a dummymander. The 2nd district is our sole GOP district. Only the 1st and 3rd are super solid blue. The other 3? Two are D+6, the other is only D+4. Gotta gerrymander responsibly, y'all.
When your 90s/00s obsessed teen finds a NWT women's evening gown from a department store that closed 20 years ago, it becomes her prom dress shopping triumph.
My successful attempt to protect the robot vacuum (named Patricia by my 21 year old) from accessing and getting stuck in my 16 year old's disaster zone of a school organizer area seems to be frustrating Patricia, and it's weirdly entertaining.
@mountsthelens1980.bsky.social caught a little glimpse of our girl on my way to PDX! (Pics never do her justice, but especially not at 65 mph.) (dear Bluesky: I wasn't the driver, don't come for me!)
Wish I remember where I saw this and who tweeted it, because I think of it every time someone mentions swords, anvils, or foot festishes
At least 4 times a year I think about the time one of my kid's classmates tried to roast her over the kick ass half rebel she got the day before, and it didn't end well for him. She kept some part of her head shaved for over a year, and I swear it was partly out of spite.
Usually I’d say “the Willamette Valley Willamette Valley’d” but the entire West Coast was socked in last night. Anyway the clouds parted for about 20 minutes, the sky turned very faintly pink, and I cried bc that’s how much I love her.
Y’know, it might be raining but it’s WARM. 53° ain’t bad for October 31st.
Not nearly as busy as usual. Probably because of the rain. (🙄) I have special treats for kids with the password Teacher Husband gave his students today, but thus far only one kid has shouted “POTSTICKERS” at me.
This doesn’t even capture the full scope of the No Kings protest in Newberg today. The crowd went all the way to the light at Meridian on both branches of the highway, plus plenty of people behind this shot on 99W.
“We just don’t know if it’s his real signature!” Buddy, I walk by his dumb ass signature 14 times a damn day, and also I’m not 6, so I guess you could say I don’t have any doubts.
