Over the past decade, the annual average wholesale gas price was $3. When gas supply from the Haynesville grows to meet surging demand, prices will rise above $5. This will escalate the energy affordability crisis in the U.S. and the many countries that import American LNG.
📣 Our new report finds that the Trump admin’s energy + AI “dominance” policies + hostility to renewables will make it even harder for working families to afford their energy bills. Thanks to Trump, the wholesale price of fossil gas could DOUBLE over the next decade, outpacing inflation every year.

⚖️4 Ugandan farmers are taking UK company EACOP Ltd to the London High Court to stop the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP). They argue the project violates local environmental laws.
“Freeport LNG is poisoning people in my community,” says Manning Rollerson. Freeport, TX residents live next to a dirty, risky gas project that threatens their health & safety. In May, community leaders flew to Tokyo to confront Japanese institutions funding the project. [1/4]

4/5 More than $6 billion of those revenues are expected to come from countries in the Global South paying higher prices. That same $6 billion is roughly equivalent to the funding needed to prevent 32 million people from falling into poverty.
3/5 Our estimate suggests that oil companies in the United States could obtain approximately $38 billion in additional revenues from crude oil exports alone this year.
1/5 Deal or no deal, Trump’s war on Iran is making billionaires more billions. Despite the agreement signed between Iran and the United States, the price of crude oil will remain elevated until the end of 2026. 🧵
1/ The UN General Assembly has adopted a landmark resolution backing the International Court of Justice’s 2025 climate advisory opinion. This is a major moment for climate accountability. 🧵
Trump plans to give $75M to construct a coal terminal in Oakland that residents have fought for a DECADE. If built, it would blanket communities with toxic coal dust. ✊ If you're in the East Bay, join a community meeting to strategize + fight back: https://bit.ly/43ren6O
In Paris, many gathered outside the meeting to highlight the harmful impacts of TotalEnergies’ East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP), Mozambique Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) Export Terminal, and more – paid for by billions of euros of French people's savings.
As Big Oil company TotalEnergies held its annual meeting in Paris, people rallied in a Week of Action across Africa, Europe, and Latin America with nearly 70 actions in 20 countries to push back on polluting companies, demanding they cease operations and fix past harms.
🚨🚨BREAKING: Texas community leaders are in Tokyo to file a first-of-a-kind series of coordinated complaints against the Japanese financial institutions that backed Freeport LNG, a dangerous, polluting liquified natural gas (LNG) project near their homes 🚨🚨

🚨Our new report with @foescot.bsky.social and Transition Economics shows what Reform UK's climate policy rollback would actually cost: nearly 500,000 jobs destroyed within 3 years. That's comparable to almost every teacher in the UK losing their job. Read more here: bit.ly/49LLiWW
The report's conclusion is stark: this would leave "ports with no trade, suppliers with no customers, and skilled workers with no employers." Public support for net zero is holding. We need a just transition for workers and communities.
The damage wouldn't be spread evenly. Scotland would absorb 13% of short-term job losses despite being 8% of the population. Already fragile economies like North East England, East Anglia, the West Midlands, Inverness and the North East highlands would be hit the hardest.
By scrapping net zero and renewable energy support, the UK could forgo up to 1.4 million jobs by 2040 across the renewables, home insulation, public transport, EV manufacturing sectors, and more. This isn't saving money. It's burning the future economy to score political points.
The fossil fuel industry is structured to export resources and profits and funnel them to multinational companies, instead of investing in jobs and local communities. #PipeDreams #AfricaFranceSummit #JustTransition

1/ Here’s a snapshot of tankers currently heading to the U.S. to load up on crude. It took weeks to offload oil already in transit when U.S./Israel attacked Iran. THIS buffered the initial shock. Now that the cushion is gone, the disruption is intensifying. 🧵👇
