Fawkes had to have turkey and rice because he was ill and when he got better I served him his usual kibble. He put his foot on the edge of the bowl, flipped it, and then gave me such a withering look.

The eagle posed nicely while I tried zooming in with my old digital camera, then flew off after a while. I hope this pair sticks around; not the first time we've seen bald eagles here but the first time they've stopped over for a spell.

Happy birthday! My dad and I chipped this fossil tooth out of the Palos Verdes shale retaining wall in our backyard when I was a kid. Mom took me and it to the LA County museum, where a very kind scientist ID'd it as Isurus hastalis (now Cosmopolitodus). One of my most treasured possessions!
