My interests in American experimental film are slim, and here are most of them: Ken Jacobs. Stan Brakhage. Carnegie Museum of Art film dept. Binghamton Cinema Dept. Sally Dixon. And here is one sentence of a letter from Brakhage to Dixon, containing them all.
I just had a quick look to see what it might be; I assume it's the one that looks awesome, but when I googled stadium gigs london this is what came up first:
This Thursday evening I'll be in York for a (free!) screening of We Are Making a Film About Mark Fisher, plus Q&A and all that good stuff. Brought to you by the York Hauntology and Spectrality Research Group. No ££ / Booking essential: www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/we-are-mak...
Report of bull-baiting accident at Hove, Sussex, 1810. I wish newspapers still wrote like this. 'compact phalanx' should be the new collective noun for multiple shoegaze bands.
Thinking tonight of one of my favourite artworks, Gerard Byrne's series of photographs, 'A country road. A tree. Evening.'
New zines: poetry piece about Enclosure for the 250tj birthday of John Constable, and a small collaborative piece on psychogeography and AI data centres! Avail separately or as a bundle… jackdawshivers.bandcamp.com/merch
Nick Cave / Flaming Lips & more Brighton next month - 3 tix for sale; 2 adult 1 kid. Face value. Bought these in Sept and obviously somethings come up since… anyone?
At the risk of being a total saddo, a bit of Antiques Road Trip at lunch only to discover the auctioneer has a Crass badge?!
New zines incoming next weekend, with gorgeous covers (and insides) designed by Stefan Musgrove of Moth House Studios: A Celebration of the General (found poetry of enclosure for Constable 250) and They Live By Lamp Light (psychogeographic strategies for data centres, for Weirding Sustainability)
Seems really interesting, and definitely a friend of Vickybird's - not much of him in the newspapers, but what there is is very left-wing, like Victor was. I'm certain he'd have attended the Zoists. Found this in the Kentish Independent from 1933. (And, yes, I should be working...)
Tha missus has been making crochet cryptids and such. Crochet Cthulhu is adorable.
Happy 143rd birth-anniversary to Victor B. Neuburg - poet, publisher, occultist, here in a very rare image from 1917.
Lots of Victor Neuburg activity at the moment - not bad for a guy who's been dead 86 years! First today I found a never-before-known poem Neuburg wrote in 1919. Now, a photo of his friend - who became Mrs Neuburg's friend-w-benefits - the magnificent Ivan Collins (real name: Colin Evans)!
London: Monday, 13 April, I'm in-conversation with Travis Elborough at the legendary Colony Room (Green), Heddon Street, in the Mayfair/Soho borderlands, talking occult modernism in London, 1912, re my book Dead the Long Year! come ahhht!
This is the president and he’s basically saying he’s going to order genocide against the people he told ‘help is on the way’ earlier this calendar year. He’s absolutely got to be removed from office. There is a mechanism and today is without any shadow of a doubt what it is there for.
New episode of Uncanny Landscapes is out now. On alls the platforms. Ben Tufnell discusses his new novel Paradise - a brilliant slice of pastoral-noir fiction inspired by his decades as a curator of contemporary landscape art in London.
