Finished up the palm quire today! :3 this was a really fun short project

absolutely worth 2 bucks for handmade-looking (yknow...because it's handmade) paper for the palm quire! just tore up junk mail for the pulp, used a tiny embroidery hoop with scrap tulle for the mold and 3D printed a quick deckle, and here we are!! perfect size and shape for my purposes

Canvassing in progress! I'm not sure how much I'll talk about the suit coat innards here since I already did a decent amount in the Philippe log, so I'll add that here. But who knows, maybe I'll yap about it here all over again anyway

anyways i didn't end up having enough of either color of fabric left to cut out the entirety of the sleeve pieces in *just* orange or pink, so those got to be multicolored too lol

originally i was piecing the lining together with curved seams, but i just could NOT get it clean. so i ended up using some stash black cotton as a backing and basically doing a big applique-ish situation with satin stitching. i like it more than i expected tbh!

Not posting much on the build logs since I'm in crunch mode, but it's a lil slow at work so enjoy the lining being sewn together! it's also attached to the coat facings on the sides and basted to the self for now. i did end up having to repaint/dye the outlines, but I'm happy with the end result :3

did a bit of shading by watering down the dye more. if my memory serves, this will come out much lighter when dry. i hope my memory serves correctly lmao but overall I'm really happy with this!! needed a win lol

and today we're working on the lining! i made a loooot of digital mockups for this before landing on a design that struck the balance of hard metal and floral themes that i was looking for. i also took some compositional inspiration from yakuza tattoos, though that's pretty loose here lol

got facings attached the other night and did some pressing (clapper saving my life as always) and feeling good about the coat fronts! interesting thing is that you don't normally understitch coat fronts, so you just have to like...manually roll and press the seam in the correct direction 💀

then to seal it in, i mixed clear acetic-cure silicone caulk with Zippo lighter fluid to make a clear silicone sealant and covered with that. this did lead to some streaking that I didn't notice in my tests, so I'll definitely be doing a few layers for this.

Started by using a soft brush to sort of ground in Magenta pigment from the Jacquard Pearl Ex line. the color shift makes me so happyyyyyy

Finally the goop is in a place I'm happy enough with and i can begin the finishing process!! It's not perfect -- the lack of a true 2-part mold definitely caused some problems, and my attempts to trim the "flash" left some imperfect textures on the edges, but there's no time or money for a redo lol

HAPPY WITCH HAT DAY!!! 🎉🎉🎉 When I started reading the series in 2022, the anime had been announced, but it would be another few years before we even saw a trailer. Now that the anime is finally here, I can hardly believe it! I truly adore this series and can't wait for more people to experience it
