38. Destiny 2: Renegades (While I wasn't as concerned as others about Destiny getting a hot Star Wars injection so late in its life, I left QUITE IMPRESSED how much of it was overtones & gesturing rather than outright references. Bungie cooked, but sadly the already existing bill came due.)
37. Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate (In returning for Monuments of Triumph and having my interest reinvigorated, I decided to play through the expansions I missed during my absence. EoF and the Kepler setting were not high points for me, but I LOVED what it was setting up for the future. Alas.)
36. Untitled Goose Game (Never finished this one at release, but got to play completely in co-op with my nephew, which was a hoot. He thinks an asshole goose that honks relentlessly is the funniest thing ever created. And he is correct. Can't wait for Big Walk!)
35. 007 First Light (Thoroughly enjoyed my time with this, was genuinely surprised that IOI were able to strike a pretty ideal balance across many variables. Obvs a lot of Hitman influence, but not too much. Kept a serious tone, but still had some of the glib humor of eras past. Loved it.)
34. Forza Horizon 6 (positive review cancelled by inept upper management)
Tim Sweeney is a colossal dumbfuck and the only AI truly needed is an Agent Smith to give him the appropriate cure to his ails:
33. Saros (Very much enjoyed my time with Rahul Kohli and frenemies! Stands strong alongside its kin, even though I think I ultimately enjoyed the themes and weird disjointed narrative of Returnal more. Would happily take another game from Housemarque adjacent to both in a few years.)
32. Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred (Full spectrum of thoughts on this one -- enjoyed the campaign and setting a lot, moreso than Vessel. Warlock was above average for me, not as bad as some say, but does feel a bit off. Finally realized I just don't like Diablo endgame.)
31. Big Hops (had Big HOPES for this one, but it sadly fell a little short of what I personally look for in a platformer. Bugs kept me from achieving 100% which is a real sour note to leave off on for me -- but I had fun and would still recommend overall)
IIf you find yourself seeking droplets of joy in the desert of misery that we find ourselves in... you MUST seek the oasis that is Game Changer.
Several others were spectating, when a passerby came and only said 'moon larp,' which was genuinely hysterical. Then that new person and a couple others took over attempts, which freed up myself & my financier to heckle them ruthlessly, like Statler and Waldorf. But on the Moon. It was glorious. 🌝
After over 10 years of play, I just had maybe THEE BEST interaction with a stranger in Destiny, who cheered me on endlessly and bankrolled my attempts at obtaining a perfect score in the Tire Game on the Moon. For like 45 minutes. Except... I already had the Perfect Score triumph. And had forgot. 😆
To wit, here is the first page of posts on the Crazy Taxi World Tour discussion board. It's not every post, but it is most of them.
<< Minor spoils for 007 First Light >> I just had one of my favorite physics / ragdoll moments in a long time, punctuated masterfully a combat bark ironically interrupted by sudden death: "I guess it's all up--" 😆😆
Just one of the many, MANY, incredible women in Destiny. Forever my Vanguard, Ikora Rae. 💠
I know the last thing the world needs is another riff on this, but it came to me in a dumb dream and I needed to make it real to vacate my brain:
30. LEGO Horizon Adventures (Slow played this one with my nephew. I have watched him throw people into a recycling and laugh maniacally TOO many times.)
29. Lies of P & Overture (Incredible game. So nice, I played it twice, which is RARE for me. Overture was a fantastic addition, even though the bosses wrecked my face a LOT of times. 😅)
28. Forbidden Solitaire (LOVED. Finished in one sitting-- short and sweet (complimentary), did not overstay its welcome. Enjoyed the throwback vibes to old FMV games of yore.)
Seeing this more frequently lately. Probably fine, nothing to worry about.
To everyone who worked on Destiny. To everyone who played it with me, alongside me, before me and after me. Who made it feel more real than other games. Who filled it to the brim with joy and Light. And made it feel like home. From the bottom of my Traveler's Heart. Thank you. 🤍 PS:
That Haze inspired fit looks GREAT! I loved trying to cosplay with my Guardians, to... varied levels of success lol Here's a time where I tried to do a Rocketeer inspired look on my Titan 😄
