The story of Baltimore’s playoff odds this year is not a good one. But after bottoming out at 13.5% on July 7, this 5-game win streak has pushed them back to 24.4% per FanGraphs. It’s amazing what a winning streak can do. They’ll need several more.
Beavers continues to be a little too passive, but he’s not doing damage on any of this even if he swings.
Dzierwa has won over the good folks at BP. This is really strong and fair analysis. I was also skeptical when he was drafted, then excited and perplexed by his extremely unique FB shape at the Spring Breakout game... www.baseballprospectus.com/prospects/ar...
There's a lot to like in Joseph Dzierwa's profile. He's having a fantastic pro debut, with a 2.33 ERA and 25.1% K-BB split evenly between A+ and AA at age 22. If there's one concern, it's that he is fairly FB prone and is running unsustainably low HR/FB rates, with xFIPs more in the mid-3 range.
A murderer's row of righties that strikes fear into the hearts of opposing left-handed pitchers.
The Cubs just capped a 9th-inning comeback against the A’s, moving the Orioles to within half a game of the last wild card spot.
FRV splits are noisy by month and it’s questionable how much of the picture FRV shows for catcher defense, but if we choose to use it we can at least see directional improvement.
