Australian here, we have the same problem. Drove a Kia Cerato across two deserts, over 200 miles (300 km) on dirt roads. Still going strong 3 years later.
I was making my home to Brisbane after a tour of Qld & Nth NT. My Kia Cerato had done well, still has red dust in it from the Birdsville Developmental Road. Who needs a SUV or 4WD in suburbia?
