And to think the Mural almost didn't happen! I sketched a few versions. The idea was to invoke Danger and perhaps treachery to Winchester. However none of it served to deepen the story. The "strong the root beneath" breaks free from the shipyard, tearing apart its own scaffolding, to fire off its powerful weapons at the passing frigate ANS Swift Toxin, immediately after its failed missile attack.

The Core conference Mandates Admiral Winchester to stop the Bethel rebellion at any and all cost.
In the background looms a titanic mural of a propagandised founding history of the Shelter Alliance, forged in the fires of the Venuman conquest.

Within a cavernous hangar bay, open at the bottom towards space, a civillian freighter is being converted into a makeshift warship for the OSP Navy.

The gigantic aperture of the Kribensis Hyperspace gate is blocked by dozens and dozens of makeshift OSP warships.

The Hyperspace gate station, but without all the ships to block the view, to the inhabited city scape of the station.

100% I've had the same thoughts about Battletech Mechs. Dozens of companies in different reaches, with different aesthetics... so what makes an Orion an Orion? And what would it look like for your intrepid Mechtech to cobble them together? I think that is an untapped idea space.

This is a small comic about "the bear of dangerous half-knowledge"
The text goes as follows:
The bear arrives at night.
A weight on the chest.
A sudden difficulty to breathe.
I wake up and meet it's eyes.
Its voice is all gravel and the sizzle of dying fire:
"Gunpowder is a mixture of sulphur, saltpeter and charcoal."
I awake and the bear is gone.
