Ephemera enthusiast. I collect books+magazines from my childhood & own too much vhs 📚📼 obsessive newspaper clipper 🗞️ perpetual autumn state of mind 🍂 would rather be reading a TV Guide from 1994 Also 📺 : @retrotvcaps.bsky.social
This 1997 McDonald’s commercial cracks me up because I don’t remember this airing at all — like was it regional? I swear I’d recall giant chicken nuggets celebrating summer by playing baseball and running at the beach 🏖️
There’s a brand new Baby-Sitters Club book out and I somehow missed the memo that it’s a legit new super special co-authored by Ann herself and a bunch of longtime contributors/fans — like it’s so beautiful 😭
The last two issues of Publishers Weekly have been the fall children’s preview (my fave issue all year!!) and fall comics and graphic novels preview 🎃🍂🎃
IMO, it’s absolutely too early to see this stuff and it drives me crazy how they roll out seasonal items months beforehand and then there’s nothing available when the actual season comes….yet I still smiled lol 😅
Have a deep emotional attachment to the font used in MTV’s video credits (Some digging says it’s a version of Kabel black or bold) Truly don’t even want to watch a music video without it. That’s my emotional support font 😭
Rewatching Netflix’s Fear Street (1978 for summer camp vibes) and I do NOT understand why some streamer hasn’t picked this up as a show ala Tales from the Darkside, Monsters, or Friday the 13th the series It’s a *perfect* spooky book series for one off stories set in a town where bad things happen
Was just thinking of those giant “no slip” wide bottomed coffee mugs that were everywhere in the 80s and 90s I loved how we all had at least one, normally advertising some product and plastic 😂
It is truly hard for me to convey how nostalgic and teenage a pastel satin a-line dress with a cardigan set makes me feel…like I have never wanted clothing more — with a cute headband, stacked jellie wedges or Mary Jane’s and some silver butterfly jewelry The epitome of dream style in 1995 for me 💕
Sometimes you find the *weirdest* shit on newspapers.com when scrolling 😳
Loved it ! Did you read The Eleventh Hour by the same author? It was a mystery picture book with the answer hidden in a sealed enveloped tucked in the back. I still find it impossible to solve ha
Reminder that Flight of the Navigator is a great 4th of July adjacent movie to watch tonight
Also made the traditional (in my house) blue and red jell-o today for our yearly 4th of July parfaits 🇺🇸 (we do it without the pound cake and just load the jigglers & cool whip into clear cups but I love the ad)
Did I get suckered into buying these last month and am now making them for my dad’s actual birthday, not America? Why yes 🧁
Rewatched The Bad News Bears and now I’m in the mood to only watch kids movies from the 70s
I just want you all to know that this advertisement for JELL-O berry blue has lived rent free in my head since 1992 🐠🐠🐠
Original MLP has sooo much crazy imagery — demon horses, THE SMOOZE!, bug eating witches, ponies being almost drowned to death in honey, weird plant monsters
The very first Care Bears special really had a crazy man who can freeze things feed a kid a bubbly drink that turned him (and other kidnapped children) into a weird amphibian like creature…. The 80s were wild
It’s so interesting to see everyone debating/losing their minds over the Whalefall trailer Looks decent but man, the book was a *guaranteed* checkout anytime we faced it out because of this evocative cover One of the best I’ve ever seen and a real Jaws nod (should have been the movie poster tbh)
Moondreamers deserves more credit for being adorable and fun — and having the iconic Tress MacNeille as the voice actress for multiple characters (ahem, current Daisy Duck, former Dot from Animaniacs, Babs from Tiny Toons, tons of Simpsons voices & basically in every 90s cartoon you ever watched)
The only summer vibes I’m feeling are 1990 ones ☀️ From TEEN June ‘90 issue
