Former podcast guy, now I do other stuff. he/him Babylon 5 and Red October enthusiast.
I just finished listening to Sir Pat Stew's memoir, he reads it out and it's delightful! The first half he name dropped so many british actors and I think I only managed to know Brian Blessed and Rod Steiger (thanks to the 1970 Waterloo!). Still a delightful first half but... 1/2
This is all obviously beside the point of what even is a historically accurate odyssey when discussing an oral history mostly mythological text of dubious origins And I doubt Elon is talking about historically accurate bronze armour
Sea shanty night in Victoria with the @thelongestjohns.bsky.social and Sean Dagher! What a great show! The Dropkick cover was excellent, the Wellerman was awesome, but they are so much more than that! What a great show guys.
Earlier this year I had the shock of losing one of my best friends from high school. Yesterday we all got together for a celebration of life. A friend printed this photo out for us, and I can't get over how nice a gesture that was! Life comes at you fast and it was a trip looking back yesterday
Without any exaggeration, Stephanie Smith has long been connected to one of the most atrocious, toxic and awful twitter accounts that has ever existed in Vancouver politics. She has never denied it. It was called @eastvanhalen. This is unseemly. The shit that person used to post was vile.
I'm just gonna say that this may be the perfect take from @lethalityjane.bsky.social
My wonderful partner got me this for my birthday this year! I'm stoked to dig into it this summer! Great work JMS, and thanks for bringing this to the world!
Randomly spotted this guy while cycling to my partners' parents place for dinner tonight. Victoria is pretty great sometimes.
Life is good! I'm leaving CFB Gagetown in 4 hours after a month of army training, great birthday present from the army! Photo was from day 8 of a pretty rugged field exercise.
Very little gets used for potholes. The BCTFA, which does a host of things, has a budget of $16bn while the motor fuel tax and sales tax on car rentals combine for $500m. And it's muni's that fill most potholes, funded from property taxes.
I'm going to miss the chaos giraffe. (this image is not photoshopped)
Any day is patio day if you dress warm enough. (I'm told this is a "very smug West coast thing to post")
Update: I walked to Driftwood to fill a growler. It is a 450m walk. I feel like I'm getting spun by a PR person.
My Fitbit recently "upgraded" to include AI reviews of my activities, but it is relentlessly and insipidly positive. This is my bike ride to work that I would have described as "routine and unremarkable" "The first ten minutes" were also the only ten minutes of the ride. This slop is so useless.
LAGWAGON! And I get to see Los Furios for maybe the 10th time (I haven't kept a count) As usual, I bought my early bird tickets in January for a full fest pass. See you there!
Well this is incredibly frustrating. Stargate is a part of our community!
A Thousand Ships @nataliehaynes.bsky.social Audiobook by author, it's great! Retelling the Illiad (and Odyssey and even a bit of Aeneid!) from the womens' perspective. Really good, Penelope not having anybody Odysseus' shit was great. Cassandra, Helen, Calliope all appear, and even Clytemnestra!
