A Madonna return to form, Dagny making the electro masterpiece Robyn couldn't muster this time round, Haute and Freddie serving full 80s new wave inspiration, Lezard's collection of fun indie anthems. A great first half year for albums.
Went to Legally Blonde in Bord Gais last night. A really fun musical with a great score of songs, but most of the the actors (Elle included!) must've skipped the diction classes in theatre school because we couldn't hear half of what they saying/singing.
The Vulfpeck gig tonight had the most enthusiastic audience ive experienced in a long time. Elements of Earth, Wind & Fire, funk, yacht rock, jazz and 80s R&B, and one of the most infectious gigs i've been to this year. Go if they're playing near you (or far!)
OMD gig tonight. The songs performed rarely change, just the order of them, so ive probably seen them enough times at this stage (5 times in the past 7 years) Such an absolutely stellar run of singles over a decade though.
Many thoughts about the Lily Allen show tonight. It would be more suited to theatres than Arenas. It's basically a more edgy 'Tell Me On A Sunday' Her talent is undeniable, the girlos loved it, the staging looks spectacular, and got the tickets for 22 euro each so can't complain. It's a great album.
Weather's too nice not to be taking advantage of all the outdoor gigs.... Kodaline tonight...was kind of Coldplay without the pizazz mixed with Mumford & Sons.
A fashion judging panel that nearly all peaked pre-2010....hoping this is post-irony!
I fucking outdoor gig season❤️...first one of the Summer, David Gray
Childhood me whooped when I saw this. It's in the U.S though, so no happy ending yet...
Up in the Gods for Christopher Cross tonight...just the relaxing smooth sail I would've expected.
Tame Impala gig tonight...the vibes were cool, the staging was spectacular, the lighting was out of this world.
Conan Gray gig tonight...even a 21 year old would've been over the hill at this one. Found Heaven is the album I discovered him through (perfect retropop!) but he only performed this song from it. It was 90% ballads. Great to see an female band though, no backing tracks used, & the girlies loved it.
The new #AWomanofSubstance series on Channel 4 is everything,. Almost perfect casting, but did the original have the same ending? Does this mean they're making a second series? It better.
Keiino tonight....there NF/Eurovision songs are fun, but this will.always be the ONE!
Gorillaz gig tonight...feel good vibes inc, although omitting 'Dare' from the setlist was a surprise.
I've never been to a show in Vegas but I imagine a Josh Groban gig is as close to one without going there. Everything is BIG, vocals, choir, orchestra, song choices. Perfect one for a relaxing Sunday night comedown.
Big dilemma between seeing Sigrid (for the third time) or Kesha tonight. The intricately written scandibops won out. You have to admire that she's been unfussilly doing her own thing for over a decade without following any trends, & that the new stuff is equally as good as the old.
The Roop gig tonight was a tonic. Almost like an earnest self help session with Euro tunes (much more fun than it sounds😂)
The Danny L Harle dj set was mainly me waiting to rave out to his pop girl bops. I got what I wanted.
Its surely time for somebody to give British X Factor the same treatment we got from the brilliantly made ANTM doc. #LastFourWatched
First gig of the year. Magdalena Bay serving costumes and complex song structures.
Not the 15 year being the best dressed male of the night. Get working on a copycat looook immediately, Zara! #GoldenGlobes
