After some reassessments, I'll be raising the prices of some of my books. Living Sword 2: $ 3.49 > $ 3.99 Living Sword 3: $ 3.99 > $ 4.99 I'm doing this to bring them more in line with what they're worth. However, this price increase will only happen in August, after the Smashwords Summer Sale.

Just finished Hunger of the Gods, now I'm reading a biography of a 17th century monarch.

Augustus The Strong A Study in Artistic Greatness and Political Fiasco by Tim Blanning.

The cover is a drawing of a palace, but close up so you only see part of it. Author is making the case that we shouldn't think of August as a monarch, he was a failure at that, but as an artist.

It's Baturday again! This time with the oldest bat from the Southern Hemisphere, and proof bats already made it to Australia 40 million years ago. Australonycteris clarkae.

Murgon Bat, found in Queensland and dating from the Eocene 40 million years ago.

The drawing shows a snub-nosed bat that's well fed. Probably looking for it's next meal. It's a testimony to just how well bats can adapt that they can even survive in Australia. The only continent with venomous mammals.

N-8 knelt and sketched a map out in the dirt. “Tomorrow, when we reach half a pyramid, the Veldt will be on our left. It looks like the easy path. Flat, open, safe.” They crossed it all out. “We should turn right instead, head into the Yellow Labyrinth. We can use it to go around the Shadow Veldt.”
Kolay padded over to them and studied the map. “What is a labyrinth?”
“Ancient word for a place where you can very easily get lost,” Hadronus said as he studied the sketched map. “Especially if you don’t know the route through it.”
Can you have half a pyramid when the top half is missing? Or is then just a platform or flat hill?

I saw it in an exhibition alongside the Trundholm Sun Chariot. Did always wonder what those crescents were supposed to be. Could be the moon, but there's 3 of them. Or one is the moon, and the other two are something else?

Above the Nebra Sky Disc, below that the Trundholm sun chariot. These were part of the RMO's Vuur van Verandering exhibition I visited last year.

Honestly, I thought the golden cape goes really well with it. But that one was found in Wales and is centuries older.

The Mold gold cape or in Welsh: Clogyn Aur yr Wyddgrug.

It's actually several centuries older than the gold hat.

I saw another one at the RMO in Leiden during the 'Vuur van verandering' exhibition, it's the Schifferstadt golden hat. Interesting to see both the similarities, but also the differences. It's only 29.6 cm high, so a third of the hat in Berlin. There's also more variety in the decorations.

They found and now studied several Lystrosaurus embryos. Lystrosaurus was a Therapsid, a predecessor us mammals and a very successful species right after the Permian Extinction. journals.plos.org/plosone/arti...

The statue is not actually Ea-Nasir even if it is often associated with him in memes. It is actually a votive offering, one of a collection, found at a site North of Ur.

We don't know what Ea-Nasir looked like, but given how he managed to hoodwink so many people, he must have had a very magnificent beard. A beard you could trust.
