ROSE BREAK The range of color on Lady of Shalott roses is insane. (Also, yes, these are the real colors of the real roses growing outside our dining room window.)

ROSE BREAK 2/2 1. The Dark Lady 2. The Lichfield Angel has the most perfect buds 3. Alba maxima 4. The Eustacia Vye is just getting the party started (The Lady of Shalott has started budding & Dr. Huey has new growth but no buds yet. The anthropophagus rosebush is also hanging in there.)

The Dark Lady, super dark magenta-red, does not photograph well.

Perfect cream-colored Lichfield Angel bud.

The Eustacia Vye flowers in clumps. So 1 flower is open (a soft pink with just a hint of yellow) & there are 2 buds opening right beside it.

ROSE BREAK 1/2 Cerise Bouquet (PINK) and Alba maxima (white) blooming their little hearts out.

Enormous stand of Cerise Bouquet roses (there's at least 2 plants in there & possibly 3), which as its name suggests is extremely PINK.

ROSE BREAK 1. David Austin Dark Lady 2. Alba maxima (also from DA, but they didn't create the cultivar---it's at least 500 years old. Don't tell the others, but Alba maxima might be my favorite) The Lichfield Angel is getting ready to bloom, and the Eustacia Vye looks ready to pop.

Today is the trade paperback release day for THE TOMB OF DRAGONS, the third and final book of the Cemeteries of Amalo, available at fine bookstores online & irl. I don't have a picture of the paperback (I'm at work), but it looks exactly like the hardback, pictured here with Underfoot Cat

Timeline cleanse! This is Eustacia Vye from David Austin Rose's, who is so much more amazing than I expected.

A rosebush with two clumps of flowers, each flower a different shade of pink. It honestly looks like something a florist would have to work at to achieve, and all I did was plant the silly thing.

This rose is called Eustacia Vye. I care not for Thomas Hardy, but this rose deciding this week to bloom a second time has been a note of grace that I have badly needed.
