I have concerns based on how weasel-y he was with Warren, but I also wonder how much false information he gets fed during the mission planning process. He seems highly disciplined but also comfortable with compartmentalization. Then there’s this from That Hideous Strength:

I think a higher priority is seriously putting the highlighted section of Article III in play. Packing SCOTUS is fine, but there is no reason we cannot have the lesser courts that we want with powers defined by Congress.

From Article III Sec 2 US Constitution:

In all the other cases before mentioned, the Supreme Court shall have appellate jurisdiction, both as to law and fact, with such exceptions, and under such regulations as the Congress shall make.

Not everything is about political maneuvering. I see ICE as nascent secret political police threat. I truly do. I’m all for anything that can be used to defang and restrain them, but in the final analysis, secret police have to go.
