A dashboard for my house. It's a bit overkill, but I'm sure it'll be useful one day, for something. And even if it's not, at least I sharpened my prometheus, grafana, kubernetes skills. Like all good smart homes, it runs entirely locally. Now, how do I get metrics out of my Vaillant boiler?
Out of interest I just used my local council's "When is bins" service to find out mine. Amazingly there's a link to download the calendar! I clicked it, assuming the 30 year old ical format would open my calendar app showing me a nice set of colour-coded repeating events. No. It's a bloody PDF 🤦♂️
Android 17 and Google still haven't fixed glaring contrast problems with their own wallpaper. I bet at first glance you thought the app icons weren't even labelled. But hey look, Gemini can now apparently book my holidays 🤷
Virgin Media can't even log complaints without totally cocking it up. They tried to charge my mum £91 to change plans even though I requested that they cancel her account. This was after they'd charged them £44 for 50 Mbps broadband for years even though now you can get 1 Gbps for £33.
14:11 at Euston. Train leaving at 14:13 Boarding shortly Doors will close 2 minutes before departure It's no wonder people panic. Repeating warnings about not running on the tannoy while the board makes it sound like you need to sprint.
One Login should be filed under GOV.UK One Login, having them so far apart in the app grid is confusing. Google have the right idea with One being called Google One.
For the most part no, but there are a few exceptions. Watching Uncle Roger has definitely upped my egg fried rice game, and Vito Iacopelli basically taught me everything I know about pizza dough, which I'm alright at.
Don't give me silly options to choose from when booking into a hotel please. I hope I appear on someone's dashboard.
That bronze tint also makes me think of those glass coffee mugs which were all the rage.
Yesterday's cooking exploits. Technique definitely improving, hosted for 10 and had a lovely day ♥️
I have these three which will be going up in my hall once I have frames (admittedly this has been on my to-do list for far too long) 🌻🌵
In exciting news, my compost heap reached 64°C yesterday. Hot enough to scald 🥵
When you buy something and it's crap, fair enough. When you buy it and it's great, then a software update makes it worse, it's super lame.
Guess what clicking the little play button next to the episode of In Our Time does. Did you think it plays that episode? Wrong. It queues every episode of In Our Time, going back 30 years and 1100+ episodes, and then starts playing from the start.
Plenty of garden activity at 4am, the cubs finally venturing from their hole.
My driveway is starting to look like a tunnel of foliage. Embracing the hobbit aesthetic. Horsechestnut looking its best at this time of year 🌳
Why would I want to sign into my headphone settings Sony? Just concentrate on the thing you're meant to be doing please 😓
Diabetic pro tip: a fruit scone before bed is a really good idea. Keeps the chart smooth, isn't sweet enough to send you over. Plus, delicious.
When I bought my house the garden was really overgrown. This little area under the magnolia tree had an old, decrepit table and a pair of benches that had rotted. I found a hidden paved area beneath, all nicely paved. After a jetwash, as good as new.
