This is so good. Just 16 km, 9 stations, of which 6 in previously unserved areas, 3 interchanges to the existing network (connects to ALL other lines as part of Stage ONE, not in vague future), reaches the new big TOD in the North, and requires only 14 new trains. railway-news.com/copenhagen-m...
Not sure about the critique just yet, but the fact that the images are AI generated feels inherently off-putting, and that's not a great first impression from such an important resource.
Now that REM Montréal is likely to get 1...2 new stations between Gare Centrale and Île-des-Sœurs, could it make sense to look into possibly building an underground alignment to connect REM with Charlevoix Green Line metro station instead of the elevated segment going around the rail workshops?
The new, full-colour train departure screens at Southern Cross station are great! There's just one thing... hear me out.
Another thing that I can't comprehend fully is this. The City Loop rail replacement bus.
Anse-à-l'Orme station is in the middle of nowhere, has no exit to Southern side of the highway (and is 500m away from the nearest bridge), is away from where everyone is, and where suburban rail is. It is also a rather unfortunate location to terminate a major service just short of a major suburb.
The placement of stations on the new branch of REM Montreal does not make a lot of sense to me. - Fairview station is too far away from Boul St-Jean - No station at Boul St-Charles - Kirkland station offers no direct access from area South of the highway
Chances are, I might be able to finish soon my article on Sunshine station.
Greetings from Tottenham station, the mixture of engineering and desperation of which in this weather reminds me so much of Moskovskaya oblast.
The new Xtrapolis 2.0 trains in Melbourne are now officially in-service!
Good morning everyone from Degraves St, where I am about to enjoy a cup of most excellent coffee in anticipation of the new Xtrapolis 2.0 train's inaugural passenger run which departs Flinders St at 9.06am today as Upfield service.
I can't help myself from finding it fascinating that Berlin has managed to acquire a fleet of new U-Bahn trains without air conditioning. (photo: Ivan Krylov)
Kazan has several 81-552 sets, which are a by-product of the classic 81-71 series with a different front mask. Egorov plant in St.Petersburg used to get pretty creative in re-inventing the same thing over and over again, with a great variety of 81-71 by-products running in St.Petersburg metro.
A LOT happened since then! 1. Most of Kievskaya regional rail trains redirected via D4 (via Minskaya, Kutuzovskaya, Belorusskiy, etc.). 2. The Great Circle Line redistributed people away from the inner city. 3. 'Moskva City' is now served by six rail lines (4a, 8a, 17-soon, MCC ring, D1, and D4).
I asked if I could have a slice of waffle alongside my morning coffee they brought me HOGWARTS 😳 (it was absolutely delicious but I may have hit my annual sugar consumption limits)
me when it's +14C in Melbourne (and my brain can actually function morning till afternoon)
Sydney built a world-class fully automated metro line. It's brilliant. One thing that needs to be taken care of, though, is finding a way to perform the trackworks without shutting the entire thing down for a weekend.
- we need to decorate our cafe - sure thing, how about a plastic croissant cut in the shape of a dog's head with a tree growing right from within it - say nothing more
The incredible Chelsea station and the lovely pedestrian plaza by it. Built in 2021, this whole complex was clearly designed with the purpose of ensuring that walking to the trains is a path full of as many physical barriers and as much human suffering as possible.
This is nice! May I ask, how do you make efficient use of such a space, which is inevitable in non-rectangular layouts?
I can’t help myself from thinking that the glorious upgrade of Sydney Central is incomplete without these stairways being turned into—or, at least, supplemented with—escalators.
Also, today's late night shutdown of Werribee line (for another bit of works) will, paradoxically, improve things for people trying to get to Geelong and beyond: direct coaches from Southern Cross to Wyndham Vale are so much faster than the replacement bus scheme from Werribee.
Till end of next week, Geelong/Warrnambool V/Line trains run to/from Wyndham Vale due to a new station being built on the RRL. Geelong to Melbourne (via Wyndham Vale, bus to Werribee, and Metro trains) takes 2h instead of 1h. Q: why don't we run V/Line trains to Werribee to save people around 30m?
It isn't so much 'old' and 'new', these are just different networks for different things. Rodalies de Catalunya run a massive network of regional (suburban) trains in Barcelona with 350k boardings per day, and this issue is pretty commonplace there. (Image: Barcelona Sants, Wikipedia)
