Khanna is quite the active trader. Meanwhile, Schumer, who has his personal financial disclosure on his website, has a net worth of less than $2.5 million, & doesn't trade stocks, is constantly being accused of being a corporate Dem with ill-gotten gains. www.quiverquant.com/congresstrad...
With regards to Dem messaging, it's not the message, it's the very hostile media terrain. The media either chooses not to cover Dems or has anti-Dem/bad faith coverage. In Jan/Feb 2025 when Dems were out protesting DOGE's actions on USAID, Treasury, etc, mainstream media wasn't even on the ground.
The anonymous social media user happened to have a screenshot of a CNN article. Are you only persuaded by BigNames & not evidence? Harris told them "she wasn't going to listen to the pollsters herself and would instead trust [her] instincts. www.cnn.com/2024/08/18/p...
Nov 3, 2024: Tim Walz: You know how on your phone you have a lock screen? You got your kids, your grandkids, you got your car. Donald's got a picture of himself on his phone. True story. Can we agree that's weird behavior? x.com/atrupar/stat...
Call it propaganda, disinformation or misinformation. It worked. The right had a media advantage while the left focused on attacking Dems through the Uncommitted & AbandonHarris movement. Add in racism, xenophobia, & misogyny & Americans are stuck with a corrupt & sociopathic POTUS & GOP enablers.
The difference between a Dem-led state vs GOP-led state: CA was the first state to guarantee free school meals for nearly 6 million of its public school students after Newsom signed the School Meals for All program in 2021. FL schools are eliminating free school meals. #DemMajorityResults
AOC has superb (social) media communication & fundraising skills. But it hasn't translated to _effective_ legislating and her votes are actually less progressive than Jeffries' & more conservative than 69% of House Dems (e.g., she voted NAY on the Infrastructure Bill.) voteview.com
Voters give Dems a majority for TWO years to fix all the things the GOP have broken, get impatient, & vote GOP again. And you wonder why Dems never get around to fixing other things. Imagine if Dems were given 12 years to fix things with a supermajority as FDR was given. 2 yrs of thin majority:
One person. One voice. Making a difference. america433.org www.sfgate.com/national-par...
Under Dems, Americans had a future to look forward to. Under Dems, civil rights were protected, immigrants felt safer, safety nets were expanded, & people did not have to fear that the govt infrastructure would be dismantled & weakened. Sanders knows this & persists in both siding anyway. 🤔
What if journalists treated other Dems the same way they're treating Mamdani at the moment? Newsom constantly highlights what CA Dems are doing for Californians but he isn't covered the same way as Mamdani -- maybe because he constantly goes after Trump. Example: www.sfgate.com/news/bayarea...
The progressive label has been tied too long with just economic/class issues. If you consider civil rights & voting rights, older Black voters are more progressive than young college-educated progressives/leftists who hyperfocus on the economic issue/vibe of the day (TPP!), ignoring systemic racism.
The DNC (and Harris) has a platform on taxing the rich. It's unfortunate that so many people ignored the progressive policies, not to mention the civil rights & voting rights protections, that were proposed in 2024. www.presidency.ucsb.edu/documents/20...
Haitians in Ohio or Somalians in MN (insert any other immigrant group) are not hindering white working class people's path to prosperity. Their continued support of the GOP is. Working class immigrants & POC look to the future; white working class cling to the past.
If all you care about are gestures, you'll be attracted to candidates who'll meet your criteria. Just don't be surprised when they vote with the GOP & fail to write & pass legislation. Dems have already voted on impeachment twice. Voters then had their chance in 2024 to do what Dems couldn't.
Except for the fact that the last time Dems had a *thin* majority (48D, 2IND, 50R), Dems passed a lot of legislation that helped working people. It only lasted 2 years because voters have a tendency to punish Dems for not doing enough while ignoring the GOP & never holding them accountable.
He'd point you to the Dem Party platform which addresses the issues that Dems want to tackle. It's not that the Dem party don't have the vision but the very people who say Dems have messaging issues contribute to the participatory disinfo about Dems. www.presidency.ucsb.edu/documents/20...
It didn't hurt that Trump got 2 billion dollars worth of media attention in 2016 while Clinton got ignored unless it was about her emails or other "bad optics" stuff. The narrative was fixed against Clinton (and later Biden, then Harris) but Trump remains sanewashed.
If you know how to enact change when the Dem party is in the minority & the GOP Pres & SCOTUS work in tandem, do let me know. (White) people arguing for change without understanding how to create/build the conditions for change can be annoying, esp because they tend to ignore voting/civil rights.
That would fly if the USMC didn't have very specific regulations against Nazi tattoos.

In light of what the John Roberts' Supreme Court is doing to voting rights, why don't more people consider fighting for voting rights one of the most progressive things a Democrat can stand for? #RedefineProgressive Becerra was OG progressive before Steyer fans started calling him establishment.
Between the Trump admin (tariffs, war, vindictiveness against blue states, cuts in funding across many fields) & the AI/tech bubble, there's going to be a lot of economic uncertainty/instability in the future. Becerra understands how change works so he is honest about what is feasible & possible.
Former Collins voter & college dropout Platner went backpacking in Europe after graduating from an expensive private high school because he could afford to. He enlisted “to have an adventure and kill some people.” Compare/contrast to David Costello. www.costelloforsenate.com/about-4
Your so-called centrist McDemocrats have written & passed legislation that have materially helped people. Choosing people who say things you like to hear but who aren't effective legislators essentially leads to supporting the status quo -- because they don't change things. Harm reduction > harm.
Decades of right wing propaganda has been quite effective -- even more so now in the era of mass disinformation/misinformation (now abetted by AI) and siloed information sources.
