Got up this morning, went to check the extension lead and saw this. Told someone just now and they'd just been watching the video of the solstitial 'heart of light' at a Mausoleum in Brussels (which I'd never heard of before). Had already perceived this as a kind of birthday greeting from 'afar'...

Not sure what to make of this stone, found in the garden a few years ago. Two yellow stripes applied to a darker pigmented area, leading to a drill hole, or completely 'natural'? A confirmed flint core and probable hammer stones have been found here too. How would 'paint' not degrade? #FindsFriday
A piece of flint picked up last week. Later, I noticed a subtle red vein through the grey matrix, breaking the surface at one point as a band of crystals. If it's a flint core, I wonder whether the distinctive crystalline redness governed the choice to strike flakes and blades from it millennia ago?

When I first saw this image of Littywood moated manor (Lvtiude in 1086), I thought, "Henge!" David Horovitz, in his survey of Staffordshire place-names (2003) thinks it may have developed from a prehistoric earthwork. Focus for an array of church and manor alignments, its name is 'puzzling'

The juxtaposition of book and balls was done in January 2018... Only today have I realised what might have inspired this - Emblem 141 (Eternitas) from Henry Peacham's Minerva Britanna (1612), featuring a very Melusinian-looking form holding two orbs, and she has 17 stars on her!

A descending dove seen in Hinton Ampner yesterday. Today I found a pigeon had descended our chimney. It must have been in the room a long while. A 50-mile round trip to the animal rescue, but sadly, too far gone to be saved. Returning home, 'The Lark Ascending' plays on the radio. Strange symmetries
