Blurb in this week's school newsletter, I think the first time I ever heard about "Ontario Day" was a week ago when the YRDSB sent a circular on it. Definitely not something DoFo made up after a weekend at the cottage

Ontario Day - June 1
Ontario today is home to one of the most diverse populations in the world, a diversity that is reflected in our
York Region schools and in the celebrations and events that bring our communities together throughout the
year. This inclusivity enriches us all, builds unity and strengthens the sense of belonging we strive to foster
every day for our students in our schools.
These commitments are closely connected to our Board priorities around Student Achievement, Inclusive
Education and Well-Being. We want every student, family and staff member to feel welcomed, respected and
valued in our schools.While celebrating Ontario Day, it is important that we acknowledge the history of this land, the First Peoples,
our relationships with them, and our shared responsibilities to honour the treaties and to respect and care for
the land. It is a time to reflect on how fortunate we are to live in a province known for its natural beauty,
diversity and vibrant communities.
